BRONZE MemberAny update on this? My S8 is still dead after replacing the same IC as Jonathan, and I don’t know what to check for.

BRONZE MemberThanks, I’ll watch the thread to see if any new info is shared. Although I do not get any hiss or anything, it might be of value.
Jacob Terp Christensen
BRONZE MemberSadly not, I haven’t looked into it yet. Can you link the post? Would be interesting to see if it is the same problem.

BRONZE MemberNo, I haven’t tried the green button, and I don’t know what it is for. I’m not that interested in testing with live 230v on exposed capacitors, but it might be necessary to see where it goes wrong.

BRONZE MemberHey, did you get time to look at it? I finally got time to test mine, and as yours, I get absolutely nothing. It is completely dead, and I am wondering if a smd fuse might have blown on the power supply board.

BRONZE MemberJust an update,
Got the other IC soldered, and the sub assembled. Will be testing it today or tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t explode, in which case, you wont hear from me again 😀
Jacob Terp Christensen
BRONZE MemberThanks! Did you get yours to work?
Jacob Terp Christensen
BRONZE MemberMy S8 is the earlier model, which should be identical to the 14’s. Do you have pictures of the mounting on yours? I believe they use the same ICEpower module and power supply.

BRONZE MemberI soldered the new IC, but when installing the boards, I managed to rip off a bi-amp IC, so I am now waiting for a replacement for that. When installing the boards, they have to be forced down on each side of this plastic extrusion (pic 1). This means that the components on pic 2 are prone to being ripped off. Bad design…

BRONZE MemberI don’t think it should be necessary to press a button. The button might be needed for service.
Jacob Terp Christensen
BRONZE MemberSounds like a good idea.
I will try and see if I can get mine working in the weekend.
Jacob Terp Christensen
BRONZE MemberOkay, I never really noticed the light, but according to this thread, it should show something when receiving a signal.

BRONZE MemberHey Jonathan,
No I haven’t received the IC yet, but hopefully it will arrive tomorrow, so I can fit it and assembly it in the weekend.
The connectors in the middle of the board (marked) are unused, I guess they are used for tuning/testing.
I don’t think a reset should be needed, as the power has been disconnected long enough, so there should be no remaining power in the caps etc.
Are there any light showing in front of the sub?

BRONZE MemberYeah it is on the side of the icepower pcb.
Jacob Terp Christensen
BRONZE MemberThanks for the pictures! I could finally decipher the text on top of the diode 🙂
The flex cable goes to the ICEpower module, see pic.

BRONZE MemberThanks Jonny!
I’ve ordered the IC chip, so I hope the problem is “as easy” as yours! Would love some pictures when you get it back.
Jacob Terp Christensen
BRONZE MemberYeah, the diode top has burned slightly, so if you could, I would appreciate if you could send be the numbers on top of your diode.
The diode is the one marked in blue.

BRONZE MemberWould be awesome if you could give an update when you have heard back. I’ve checked the area, the diode and resistor are both measuring fine.

BRONZE MemberHey,
Just blew the same IC on my Beoplay S8.
I’m wondering if you got it replaced and had to change anything else? I don’t know if it took other components with it.
I’ve added a couple pics of mine.
