Frustrating because I know at least 1 turntable is easily repairable just not by me.  I posted this problem a few years ago the first time and people (rightfully ) convinced me not to recycle stuff.  While I’d love to make a few dollars for the white system (I got ripped off in the worst way ) the remote works. I just need to get it out of my apartment. I live in NYC and my apartment wouldn’t be described by cavernous even by an ant’s standards. My wife is incredibly patient but I’m a musician and will come in from gigs and drop my horns anywhere just to get to sleep. Broken stereo equipment is a step too far

It’s been a few months. I brought it in to an electronics shop that has worked on B and O stuff before. After a few weeks, they couldn’t figure out the problem. I have Beogram 5500 as well that I screwed up trying to fix the string that broke. After fixing it, the tone arm assembly fell apart. This. is out of my wheelhouse. I’m in NYC. Does anyone know of any repair people in the area?

so I took the platter off and the string is just hanging out. Attached to a small spring which isn’t attached to anything.  Do I need to remove the whole top of the unit or can I do this with the platter off? I’m not seeing where this attaches?

Would that explain why I’m not getting any signal even when I bring the arm over manually and drop the tone arm?
