From my personal experience, the first time (out of many) this happened to me, the engineer had to replace a video board. B and O used to refurbish them (the boards) to use as replacements (before they fail again) . You will need to contact your local dealer who will have an engineer to assist. But it sounds very much like one of the video boards will need changing.

Hi, this is a common issue with them. You will need to get the engineer out, there is a complete unit they can replace. It is likely the metal cord has come off the rollers, but in my case it could not be wound back on. So get in touch with your local B and O retailer, they will have a link to a repair engineer, who can visit you.

My Avant is dead, multiple video boards, thousands spent. Then the screen died completely.

When it worked it was magical, but it has been one of my biggest financial mistakes ever. It was not fit for for purpose.

This is an old topic, but maybe some people will be researching info about a used Avant.

I paid over 2ok GBP for my 85 inch tv. When functioning it was amazing. But it needed various video boards (thousands spent again) , the drop down speaker mechanism broke, and the final nail in the coffin, the screen failed and cannot be repaired. As I travel a lot, the actual hours of use on the screen were minimal compared to daily use. B and O did offer a discount on a new system, but the desire to spend again thousands on such unreliable products is zero. I have spent , I guess 70k plus on B and O equipment, the style worked for my house, sound good enough, etc. But I would never do it again. Unreliable product, and the manufacturer did not support a clealry defective product. I have many other screens, older than the Avant, all work perfectly, zero defects, have never needed any repairs or spend.  But I will end up having to get the sound bar so I can use my other speakers, but it will be through gritted teeth.

I will deliver this monster pile of junk to B and O head office though. Just so they understand what it is like.

Well the screen is broken beyond repair. B and O are a joke. 25 grand to buy, 2500 more on repairs, and this pile of junk is going in the bin. It started failing at 7 years old.

That the TV was used only a few months a year as I am away traveling makes the total lack of reliability and quality even more of a joke.

I will dump this pile of junk outside of their head office as they have washed their hands of this financial disaster. Who has ever had a tv fail in the last 20 years ?

Avoid B and O products, they are pretty but total junk.
