No need for an almando decoder anymore. Bought a multiplay decoder III brand new from almando and had more trouble with it than with anything else I bought before related to my setup.

      Problems:

      • the decoder doesn’t work correctly with older TV which have only hdmi arc (not earc). As soon as I connected other devices such as Apple TV, Chromecast Video oder Fire TV Stick, I lost arc connection.
      • on the second day of use the decoder unpredictable switched to full volume two times, although the original TV remote and also the mobile phone, with the app installed, were lying on the table. This resulted in speaker damage to both of my BL6000 surround speakers. The speakers now only produce crackling sound.
      • the mobile app is constantly loosing contact to the decoder, parameters sometimes can not be saved.

About the hdmi cec problems almando suggested cec blocker adapter for each hdmi device which results in total loss of control of them via original remote.

About the damaged speaker almando recommended a store where I can buy new speaker units. Are they kidding ? Their product killed my speakers and I should buy new speakers with my own money ?

I have sent back the decoder with full money back.

Almando ? Beta product with premium price tag. NEVER AGAIN !

        I am such an idiot.

It’s so long ago that I configured an old B&O TV.

        My setup was:

Technisat SAT receiver HDMI out –> HDMI auto switch port 1 –>  HDMI to DVI Cable –> TV DVI IN.

Technisat SAT Receiver Scart Audio –> TV AV1 scart

Apple TV 2 HDMI out–> HDMI audio extractor –> split video/audio -> Video: HDMI auto switch port 2/ Audio –> TV AV2 scart

Then I added the Chromecast /w Google TV to the HDMI auto switch port 3 and configured AV3 on the B&O TV, but didn’t have in mind that this requires Audio IN on AV3 scart. If there’s no connection then there’s no audio.

As I didn’t use the Apple TV 2 anymore I removed it and installed the Chromecast to the same connections of the Apple TV 2 instead.

Now I have video and audio.

Thank you all for your input.

Audio options on the Chromecast /w Google TV under advanced sound options are:

          • Dolby Digital
          • Dolby Digital Plus
          • Dolby Atmos with Dolby Digital Plus
          • DTS

          That’s all.

Would it be worth to try to connect audio from the audio extractor via spdif/coax instead of analog to the BV to get sound ?

Received the Amazon audio extractor today and immidiatly did a test. Same result as with my old audio extractor – no audio output.

What else can I do ?

I just ordered a new HDMI audio extractor, which another member recommended in another thread as working.

This is the one I ordered: https://www.amazon.de/AmazonBasics-Audio-Extractor-Konverter-Audio-SPDIF-Stereo/dp/B07KRWYN4R/ref=sr_1_3?crid=27D6EBFQZ24OA&keywords=hdmi%2Baudio%2Bextractor%2Bamazon%2Bbasics&qid=1701035939&sprefix=Amazon%2BBasics%2BAudio%2BExtractor%2Caps%2C136&sr=8-3&th=1

Will report back if it solves my audio problem.

Yes I did. Chromecast offers Dolby Digital, DTS and newer audio formats. It offers Dolby Digital and DTS  if I set the audio extractor to 5.1. If I set the audio extractor to 2.0 Chromecast doesn’t offer any audio format at all.

Could it be a problem of the audio extractor ? Should I buy a newer one ?

I’ve been a founder member, but after some forum changes I lost that status too.

Is it possible to get this status back ?
