    —SOLVED—

got some advice from B&O customer support: clear the databases from the maintenance menu, if no cd ripper is installed. Which I did, as I do not have any ripper attached. Rebooted and it took a some 15 minutes and the new n.radio database was downloaded, shows as such in the Product Info and all works fine.

(If there is a cd ripper installed, you need to manually delete the n.radio database out from the service menu ( E:\cache\data\nradio.db) and that triggers a download of the latest database.)

Of course, this only works if you have connection to the internet and you need to make sure that the connectivity is established.

Hello @allan. i seem to have similar issue, even though I am connected through a LAN cable and in the service menu it shows connected. I don’t seem to connect to have internet, hence nothing will download. Any suggestions! Thanks.

“2)apart from that I cannot seem to connect to the network.”

    Hello Avalon Martin, nice acquisition!

I do not use Beoconnect, and just transfer files to the ‘Music’ folder on the BM5 using my Mac’s possibility to ‘Connect to server’. There i use the BM5’s IP address, username and password (that you can set elsewhere in the menu). I trust a similar option is available on Windows PCs.

    Good luck!

    Regards, Johan

Hello Johan, Thanks for your reply, will try doing this with the mac. However, right now using Windows 10 laptop. I went through the service menu to check on the network connections, it shows connected, but when checking for internet, it does not connect. I have seen spotify in the menu somewhere, so if the internet does not work, I cannot use Spotify. Any suggestions.

    Hi Avalon,

I had the same questions, but I have solved them.

I use a NAS where I stored my CD’s and all metadata. Then, on my Windows11 laptop I made a drivemapping to \\192.168.178.xxx\BM-SHARE&. Thus I can have the two windows on my screen and I can move/copy music files.

I noticed that not all albumcovers are visible on my BS5. Therefore I used EZ meta tag editor (21 days free use) EZ Meta Tag Editor – Organize, Edit & Enhance Your Music Collection. It was very easy to search for albumart (600×600). It automatically embeds it into the specific map on your BM5.

    lots of success,

    Joris

Hello, Thanks Joris, I managed to get the EZ meta rag editor and organise some music. However, when I try to do a drivemapping, It is asking for USER ID and Password, I could not find this information anywhere, and I have no idea where I should create one so I can copy files easily, I am just using a USB fdrive at the moment and moving files from the service menu.

    4) The LCD on the Remote, BEO4 does not work properly(may need replacement, no idea from where) so will need a new LCD as I cannot see the display clearly.
First try adjusting the contrast – see the Beo4 manual for instructions how to do so*.

If it does need a new screen (as the photo appears to show), they are available here:  https://avaservices.co.uk/

And screen replacement instructions are here:  https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/21827/180454.aspx

    * If not in the instructions, do this:  On Beo4, press Power (red dot) and LIST together.  Then press MENU and GO together.  Press LIST until screen shows: CONT:XX.  XX is a number from 00 to 15.  Type in new number to change (start low – 00 is lowest contrast), then GO to save, and Power (red dot) to exit.

Thanks on the above, I fortunately got a full working condition with a clear LCD on ebay, for the similar price of the LCD, so I think that’s a good option, just incase I need a spare remote later on.
