      Hello,

Just purchased a BS9000 and a pair of Penta 6633. It all sound fantastic, but would like to add the WIIM Ultra that I purchased to stream music through the AUX IN on the BS 9000. I purchased a 7 pin din plug to RCA…. NO sound from the WIIM. The WIIM works great on a different stereo system, but no go on the BS 9000. The cd player, and Radio work, the Pentas work great.

Any Ideas on what the issue is ?, Bad cable? does the AUX have to be setup.

When I press the AUX button on the BS 9000 it changes to         (A AUX ).

When I press A TAPE on the remote the Pentas say (A TAPE )

      Thanks for any help

You can definitely make this work.

I am sure Steve from @soundsheavenly can help.

        Can you jump in Steve?

My first vote is that the cable isn’t right. Note that the AUX port supports input and output (back in the day, you’d connect a tape deck and record while you were listening) so if your AUX cable only has 2 RCA leads, it could be an AUX output vs AUX input cable. If it has 4 leads you could potentially be connecting the output leads… or it could just be wired wrong.

On the list of stupid things I’ve done that you can check before ordering a new cable:

          1. Make sure you’re plugged into the AUX port, and not one of the PL ports. It’s very tight back there and if you’re doing it “by feel” because it’s too hard to get into a position to see what you’re doing, this can happen (actually, I plugged a PL in to the AUX and then couldn’t figure out why it was so loud and I couldn’t control the volume, but it’s the same concept).
          2. Make sure you the DIN is oriented correctly so, for example, pin1 on the connector lines up with hole1 on the BS9000. The Din connectors are not supposed to let you do this, but I have an AUX cable that allows one to plug it in wrong.

I had a Google Chromecast wired to my BS9000 until I gave up on its drop outs so you’re on the right track.

            Thank you,

I ordered from Amazon last night a new 5 din plug to RCA it arrived the next afternoon and it’s now installed and working well. I took special care in plugging the din to aux to make sure the orientation was correct, also the RCA plugs to the line out on the WIIM ULTRA and now I’m able to stream, and use my phono. I now may have to buy another WIIM for the stereo in the basement, becoming a gear head.

So bottom line, it could have been the first cable I used the 7 pin was defective, or it didn’t like 7 pins… I just recalled others online saying they used 5 Pin, it’s working.

            NOW ENJOY THE MUSIC

Though B&O uses an 8-pin DIN connector, for this purpose you can use a 5-pin DIN connector, using only 3 pins.

It is all about connecting a cable with 3 leads to the right pins, for getting the stereo signal from your WiiM in to the BS9000.

The 3 leads are: (picture show male DIN connector from the back/solder side, or female from the front side)

              • Gnd to pin 2
              • Right channel to pin 4
              • Left channel to pin 1

Your correct, orientation of the pins is the most important consideration without a doubt. Not sure that there was a center pin on AUX port, as I recall there was not. I’m not lifting it and turning it over to find right now, but I understand your point.

I think you’re right that AUX is just AUX.
And that the DIN AUX connector on the BS9000 only has pins 1 – 5.
