I know a Beolink PC2 is an old piece of kit now, but I find it useful, to play digital music from my PC, and also to play PC sound via my B&O setup. I’ve been using a PC2 well enough for a few months.
I thought it would be useful however to get a second PC, as my main PC is mainly used for gaming, and I so sometimes like to listen to music when playing games, so I bought a pretty cheap HP touchscreen PC and connected the PC2 to that instead – a dedicated music PC.
So, I connected the Beolink PC2 to that instead, installed the Beoport software, and set it to Option 6, which worked fine when connected to my gaming PC. It’s not working the same though, and wondered if anyone has any clues as to what the problem might be?
If I use my Beo4 to select N,Music or N.Radio, that works – that source is displayed on my Beosound 4, my Beolab Pentas power up, and that’s what I hear. I can also see the source change on the (old but still very pleasing) Beoport app that docks on the right of the PC screen.
However, something has changed. When connected to my old PC, I could also control all sources from the Beoport app, but that is no longer working. If I hit a source in the app, the Beosound 4 displays that source, but nothing else happens – the Pentas do not power up and no sound is heard. If I then use the Beo4 to play a source, it will play fine, but then if I press standby, the Beolab Pentas power off, but the Beosound 4 continues to display whatever source I last tried to play via the Beoport app, even though no sound is heard.
It’s like it’s detecting two audio masters and is getting confused, but the PC2 is set to Opt.6 and the Beosound 4 to Opt.1, which did work fine when it was connected to my old PC. I’ve tried the BS4 in Opt.2 as well, but it made no difference.
I know I’m clutching at straws here, but any ideas!?
