Today, during routine upgrades by a certain consumer monitoring firm that required much cable pulling and black box swap overs, our beloved BV8-40 was dislodged and fell against the technician’s shoulder ???

    Th technician is OK

But our BV8-40 is now ?

So I would appreciate some opinions … apart from have a triple scotch ? (more likely 6 beers)

What replacement path should I look at ???

What do you when an upgrade is forced upon you when this is your life …

The BV8-40 as some will recall from my site diagrams of circa 2012 is the core of our system:

    • Its SurroundSound with two BL3s, two BL4s, and a BL19
    • And a MasterLink to a BeoSound 4, and this year also a Beosound 3200
    • B&O Wireless Link to two remote rooms
    • And via ML/NL Converter connectivity to a Core … two BL20s
    • And also ML/NL connectivity to an Essence … two BL6000s and a BL12
    • Four Beo4 remotes, one BeoRemote 90, and three BeoLink 1000 remotes
    • A Become 6000
    • And a defunct BeoPort

And so my friends, any thoughts ?

Since it seems that you have some experience with the ML/NL Converter, you will not necessarily have to stick to a ML tv part!
If you want to maintain the ML there, you will need a BV10 (or a BV8-40 replacement).

However, I would use the opportunity to go all in on NL (with the additional converter you already have) and look for a preused BV11.
Or rather – if funds allow – a BS Theatre and the LG tv!
As much as I also liked my BV8-40, I am sure you won’t regret that.

Not good. Bet there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth by the technician?

I have a BV10 that you could have for a reasonable price. That way everything should work as it did previously (hopefully….)

    Thanks Peter !
    You’ve got mail.

Thank you MM … that was the direction I was leaning, however Peter’s suggestion is interesting.

I need to dig into some manuals 🙂

Today saw the arrival of our replacement… a BeoVision Horizon… and the departure of the BV8 …

And MM was correct, after Jonathan worked his integration magic, we have an even better multi-room experience.
