BRONZE MemberHi everyone,
I recently noticed that the B&O app seems to have a section for radio stations, which I assume came with a recent update. I have a set of Beolab 50 speakers, but no other B&O products, and Iโm only using the B&O app.
However, every time I try to play a station, I get an error message saying โsomething went wrong.โ Iโve looked through the app settings but canโt figure out what I might be missing. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions on how to get the radio stations to work?
Thanks in advance for any help!
14 September 2024 at 19:53 #59087GOLD MemberThe โradio stationsโ have been a part of the integrated services of the B&O (streaming) products for quite some years now.
Previously TuneIn was used as the provider for netradio stations. Recently this was changed to a B&O managed service (B&O Radio), that is configured and controlled within the B&O app.
Since the BL50โs are โjustโ a set of speakers – with no built-in services – you will need a B&O streamer connected to those.
The most recent version is the BeoConnect Core – the previous BS Core as well as the now discontinued Essence MK2 would do the job as well.
Also, if your BL50โs are connected to a B&O-tv (even way back to the BV11), you could use the radio service build in there.

BRONZE MemberThank you so much for your reply! I really appreciate the insight. I couldโve sworn this was the first time I saw the radio feature in the app, but maybe I just hadnโt noticed it before. For me itโs just clatter as it is now, but either way, Iโm grateful for your help. Thanks again!

BRONZE MemberIโve been reading up on the new BeoConnect, and Iโm still wondering: for the best possible sound quality, can it be successfully connected to Beolab 50s via USB-C? Has anyone had direct experience with this setup? Iโve heard several times that the previous Core had some limitations in this regard.

BRONZE MemberI have just replaced my Core (now for sale) with Beoconnect Core. Connected to Beolab 50’s via USB-C/ USB-B. Previously the Core was connected via optical. ย I thought the Core performed very well. The Beoconnect Core does sound nicer though. It’s a Core with bonuses. Whether it’s worth the extra investment though?

BRONZE MemberThank you for your reply. Iโm glad to hear that the new core works well via USB-C. Iโm also curious about how the volume control functions when streaming with BeoConnect and Beolab 50. Will the setup remember the last volume level used? This is one of the issues Iโve had with the Beolab 50.

BRONZE MemberLike the original Core you simply store which volume level you want it to remember. Simple.
