BRONZE MemberGood Morning, everyone,
Picked up a lovely, in good condition, Century yesterday from Facebook Marketplace for £40. Condition is really quite nice, the only downside is the CD mech doesn’t spin. When a disk is put in (the clamp and everything lifts fine) it just fails to spin and after maybe 5 seconds the clamp lifts back up again. Cassette and aux in works great with my Alexa.
I watched a few videos and read other forum posts, and it seems like a reasonably easy fix.
I did have it disassembled last night to clean, as it was a bit dusty. I was hoping some IPA on the CD lens would fix it up, but alas it made no difference.
I Have ordered a new CDM-12.4 assembly for it in the hopes of getting it working.
Another oddity is that it refuses to work with my Beo 4 remote, suggesting that maybe the IR receiver inside the Century has failed. I did see a few other forum posts about this so maybe a fairly common issue. I know my Beo 4 and Beo One remotes are both fine as they operate my Beovision 11 and Beosystem 3500 without issue.
Here are some pictures. I have also ordered this pickup off Amazon – in the hopes of getting it working.
I would appreciate any help or suggestions
