Hello,
I own a Beoconnect Core and my setup is as follows:
Power Link: 2x Beolab 18
Line In: Beogram 4002 (with an internal preamp by Jacob Rungwald)
Bluetooth: Beoremote One BT
HDMI: Sony TV
I notice that I always need to turn the volume up when playing a vinyl (not just a bit). This is even after I changed the “Volume Gain” at “Source Behaviour” to +12 for line-in, and to -12 for all other sources. Is this normal? I would like to have equal sound levels, no matter what the source is.
4 January 2025 at 02:21 #62237No it is not normal and indicates that your phono preamp does not have sufficient gain or there is an issue with it. You did not indicate what cartridge you are using as the MMC6000 has a lower output for example. It would also help if you had a link to the specs of your preamp that specified its gain. Alternatively, I would try to test the turntable into another receiver to see if you have the same issue.

The preamp is this one:
Does this help?
And the cartridge is the standard MMC20EN by Bang&Olufsen.
I also had the idea of testing the turntable on another speaker, it’s just that I wasn’t able to find another device with a line-in (Beoplay S3 didn’t seem to work).
4 January 2025 at 12:32 #62254Edit: Just after posting the above message, I remembered a portable DAB radio I have, which fortunately has an AUX input.
Here, the volume of the Beogram over AUX is only slightly lower than the radio channel I had set. All good there.
So, the issue must be in the Beoconnect Core or rather in the app. Seems really strange to me…

Can’t the input level of the Line-in of the Beoconnect Core be switched between Low / Medium / High in the B&o app just like for the Beosound Core?
No experience yet with the Beoconnect Core……
