    Hi all

general enquiry for the advice and input of those far more knowledgeable than I …. Please?

I have a large living room … roughly 6m square.

I have a large window wall across one wall and a large L shaped sofa facing it

Room orientation means that the tv is in one corner with window wall partially behind it.
I have a B&o Harmony as tv with two beo 18s in the adjacent corners. I’ve got a bo 19 sub that lives behind the sofa in opposite corner to tv

hope that all makes sense …. Now my question is…

the sub tends to be turned way down as it gets boomy on most levels. I can mess around with settings for harmony and 18’s and it’s amazing. But ….

am I better off selling the 19 and getting another speaker behind the sofa and sound fill … maybe an older 8000 with a receiver to make it wisa … ? maybe reposition the sub to somewhere else in the room? Maybe even take an m5 or something similar (I’ve got those elsewhere in the house) add a receiver and hide that next to the 19 behind the sofa as fill?

I listen to lots of music all types … normal tv and some films often action.

thoughts from you wise people?? What would you do??

    Many thanks

    Hi Rob

    A lovely setup!

Before you even consider getting rid of the BL19, you should spend some time relocating it in the room – it might take several tests.

Placing a sub right is crucial for a good and even sound/bas dispersion in (bigger) room.

Replacing it with something else in the same spot makes no sense – the speakers that you mention will not make the situation better….on the contrary.

I suppose that you are familiar with the sound settings of the tv, speaker roles, speaker grouping etc (?).

Thanks for the reply and yes I love my set up.

I’ve got several different sound stages and have had many happy hours tinkering with them.
what is was trying to achieve is a more complete theatre without needing huge volume.
if I turn it up a bit I can get great spatial sound and spread from music mixes but at low volume I loose lots and the sub gets very intrusive.
the idea of getting and 8000 in the extra corner was I my mind to complete the room acoustics

the 19 behind the sofa is the most obvious place for it to be aesthetically but I’ll take your advice and try to move it round.

I’ve currently got the 19 on an acoustic isolation mat which works but radically reduces it’s effectiveness.

so my idea as I mentioned was to loose the sub and replace it with a full speaker  (I’ve got an a6 and couple of m5’s to mess around with but have been thinking about 8000 or 6000 just to fill in  or maybe do that anyway and keep the sub??

many thanks for your thoughts … it is as you know a fantastic kit! lol
