I am trying to add a Beolab to my Theatre via a Receiver 1.  The Theatre sees the Receiver, plays a tone through when doing the Room Sense, but never adds the speaker to a group. I am wondering if that is because the Theatre does not know what kind of speaker is connected to the Receiver 1 and I see no way to tell it. With a PL connection it asks for the speaker type, but not with the wireless PL. Any thoughts?

I’ve had the EXACT same experience with the Receiver 1. My dealer encountered it too on a different installation. I’ve messaged Beocare and they’ve advised that they’re working on fixing this.

You should be resting, mister. Lots of Gatorade Zero to get you through Covid.

Yup.. It’s a bug. B&O is aware of it.

I saw a new update for the B&O app this morning and downloaded it. However, the app still crashes when searching for and adding Receiver 1 speakers. It would seem logical that after detecting the Receiver 1 that it would then prompt us to assign the type of speaker. However, the app just crashes and only shows those speakers detected as Receiver 1.

I would like to know does the latest software update for Theatre solve the problem?

I believe so.  I have Beolab 9s connected to R1s and was able to select 9s in the menu.  However, I am not sure if it has been fixed in just the Beta releases or if the regular releases have it now also.

This has annoyed me too, because B&O claimed that the Theatre will take additional speakers into their bass management in order to get the best out of the ensemble. But how doing this, when the additional Beolab speakers are connected via Receiver 1 and there is no way to tell the Theatre what additional Beolab speaker it is connected to? A couple of months ago there has been an important update of the App, and at last I could tell the theatre that tiny Beolab 3’s are working as rear speakers. I measured it in from scratch and now it sounds much better. I also noticed that before this revision the side speakers of the theatre were not engaged when rear speakers were used via receiver 1. Stereo side/rear effects were made only by balancing the front and rear speakers and this did not sound convincing. Now the side speakers of the Theatre are engaged as well, and the sound has become much more natural and immersive. Sorry, but this is how the product should have performed at its launch two years ago!

Anyhow, it appears sounding better than before with two Beolab 5 in the front, a Beolab 7.4 in the center and mentioned Beolab 3’s in the rear. Obviously it does not get that crazy loud, especially concerning the enormous bass of the Beolab 5, but there is  much less clutter standing around in the living room. Bass addicts still may add a subwoofer or two.

What do you mean with beolab7.4,work together with Theatre as center?
