BRONZE MemberHello all,
New to the forums…
It’s been a while since I purchased my first pair of B&O S45 speakers and the B&O U70 headphones when I was 13, at the time it took all of my allowance and then some. They were awesome! Anyway, fast forward a ton of years and I just acquired a near-mint set of B&O equipment from my brother-in-law’s parent’s estate. There are some minor issues that I am aware of so far that I would like a bit of help on.
I have yet to test the functionality of the components but hope for the best.
Beomaster 6000
Beogram 8002 w/MMC2: The double-sided foam tape that attached the aluminum plate that lifts to expose the stylus etc. has decomposed from age and the aluminum plate is completely separated. Missing the adapter hub for playing 45 records. Missing the 7-pin phono cable, but I do have a 7-pin TP1 cable (6270222) from the Beocord. Is the Phono cable different than this TP1 cable, I can’t imagine that it is? I doubt I will have any use for the Beocord. I see Steve at Sounds Heavenly perhaps has a Phono cable if the TP1 is in fact not advisable to use. Any US suppliers, sources? eBay did not seem to have much that I found.
Beocord 8004 HX Pro: I likely will not have use for this but am not certain at this point. My guess is that it would “eat” a cassette tape if I tried to play one due to non-use for some years.
Beogram CDX2: Looks great.
Beovox MS150.2 Speaker set: These are mint aesthetically but the foam surrounds, while intact except for one small area, are decomposed/brittle from age. I have ordered a replacement kit from Germany. I have speaker wire, but on has one of the connectors missing (which I can use at the speaker side to the standard terminals). Is there any reason for preferential use of the B&O connector terminals as opposed to the screw terminals with stripped wire ends? As a side note, for all the amazing design talent at B&O, I find it odd how the connection port on the back of the speakers lines up so nicely with the stand mounting post.
Beomaster Terminal Remote: The battery was slightly corroded at the terminals, but it came off without too much effort. A new battery seems to indicate the remote works.
WB-10 Mounting bracket. I have not seen the Beosystem 10 that hangs on this and imagine it may be history…
Thanks,
Nils
