Hello and first of all, scuse me for my bad english.
I bought a “Beovision5” in early 2002. It was a “status symble”!…….. amazing! But the best was the “audio” output….. no other surround system in my opinion was better.
Some years later, someone stop analogic Tv receiver……. so i installed a “decoder”……. I was veru angry but “Lintronic” helped me using “Beo4” as the only remote needed.
In 2014 “Beovision 5” has gone down…… I called B&o assistance and they have token away my Bv5 for repairing this……
So i bought a “Beovision 9” while Bv5 was in repair……
Year passed…….. and “Beovision5” was dead with no hope resurrection…….. So i told turn it back home.
“Bv5” was return to me disassembled, not working at all and very damaged in external looking…… i was veru sad.
So i decided to “make myself” and renew my adored and loved “Bv5”!
First of all, i bought a “Beosystem3” (the best processor ever!) and i fit this into my ikd “Bv5″ case.
Then, i bought a new Lcd monitor…….. a simple tv 43″” connected to “Beosystem” tv out. Very difficult to configurate!!!!!…..
Welll, a decoder connected to “Beosystem”, my audio “Bang and Olufsen active speaker system” connected to “Beosystem” and my “old Beovision5” is ready to restart!……
The “trick” has been adding an “Arduino” board.
“Arduino” board heard any command sent via “Beo4” or via “domotic system”. They are tha same.
If i press “Tv” on “Beo4” or if you press a button on the touch panel placed into the house, Arduino board receive this and turns on “Beosystem”, the Tv monitor and the decoder.
If i press the “Power” button on “Beo4” or domotic system set a scenary in wich audio or video myst be “off”, “Arduino board” turns off Beosystem.
I can turn on or off radio, tv and set volume, change channel and any other things even via Beo4 or via domotic system.
I finally can press “Tv” button on “Beo4” controlling the decoder connected away……… because if i press “Tv” on my “Beo4”, the signal out is “Sat” as i decided.
My old “Beovision 5” is now better beauty than it was when it was built and it works updated to the new standards….. It can also play and recorder any audio or video files because it has an “Hard disk” inside……
It will ever be “a status simble”…….. it will never die!
1 November 2024 at 17:27 #60644Well done – I always liked the 5 – gave mine away eventually as they are very big and weigh a ton! It sounds like yours will considerably outperform a normal 5 though! The problem B&O had with this model initially was that it appeared when the Avant CRT was still around and comparing the picture did no favours to the 5 as early plasma screens were not that great! The sound was always good though.
2 November 2024 at 19:32 #60681That is so cool! Respect for your ingenuity and guts.
I very much like this way of keeping the somewhat older stuff in use. Imagine also how many BV7 motorized stands and BL7s are now discarded because the screen technology (only) is outdated! Many kilograms of finely machined materials are brought to recycling, where the BV7 is quite a modular TV even. Makes me think of the Neomesteren offering that I might be exploring one day, when my bedroom BV7-32 gives up.
Regards, Johan
