Good afternoon everyone, well in East Anglia at least. I inherited a BEO RX-2 and it does all the mechanical things it is supposed to do, however I suspect the MMC-5 Cartridge is faulty. When I looked under the turntable the setting wasn’t on MMC setting so I suspect this cartridge has been a replacement. The current sound is poor and distorted so without having to shell out £300 for a new one, I was hoping there might be someone out there near Norwich that might have a MMC-5 working so I try it my machine and eliminate this as the fault? Long Shot. Under a microscope the stylus looks old and filthy so I am hoping that this is the problem. I have purchased a pre amp to see that would help but it didn’t, more sound but still distorted.
