Hallo liebe Community,
Ich habe folgendes Setup:
Beosound 5 mit Beomaster 5
ML/MCL Converter für mein Multiroom System
Almando Multiplay Surround Decoder III
MCL2A? ( Diesen jedenfalls: https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=974 )
MCL2AV

Hello dear community,
I have the following setup:
Beosound 5 with Beomaster 5

Almando Multiplay Surround Decoder III
MCL2A? (This one anyway: https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=974)
MCL2AV
I have a Behringer sound card connected to my Beomaster.
Now I managed to control the A.Aux source in every room and also the volume.
Only the room with the MCL2AV causes problems. A.Aux is not recognized and the volume control is reversed. That means if I turn it down it gets louder and vice versa.
Now I have one of the MCL2A described above left. The internal wiring looks very identical to the MCL2AV. Only the MCL2AV still has a power supply.
Can I just swap out the MCL2AV with the MCL2A?
And where does the MCL2A actually get its power from?
11 June 2022 at 17:42 #35406Before I can understand what you want to do (and the setup in general) – and maybe make a suggestion – I’ll have to ask where your MCL2 devices are connected?
Normally the MCL bus is connected to an old audiomaster e.g. Beomaster 4500/6500….
The MCL2A does not need any power – it merely provides an extra set of speakers connected to the audiomaster with the option of muting/unmuting and controlling volume and changing sources of the audiomaster.
Only the 2AV version needs power (and active speakers connected).
It also has an option to act like a 2A (then without local sources).MM
11 June 2022 at 20:18 #35407As MM said above. But the MCL2A does indeed get power from the Audiomaster over the MCL cable. Pin 2 (pink) provides 7.5 to 8.5 V. This is also the extra pin in the left hand speaker connection at the audiomaster.

Well I should have written:
“Does not need power from an external powersource”
