SILVER MemberHi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my BeoSound 9000 Mark 3, which I purchased second-hand.
After some time (around 10 minutes of operation), the upper arm of the CD sled seems to lower slightly. As a result, the CDs audibly scrape against the arm. If I carefully lift the front edge of the arm by less than 1 mm, the noise disappears – but only temporarily, as it reoccurs shortly after.
This issue affects all CD slots. The unit is currently placed flat on the floor and set accordingly. Previously, it was used horizontally mounted on a wall.
Years ago, I recall reading in old forums that there were capacitor issues with the MK 1. Could this be a similar issue? I’m not sure what’s causing the problem or how to fix it.
I’d appreciate any ideas or advice you could offer.
Best regards,

GOLD MemberThe clamper arm can be adjusted to raise it back to being parallel to the top plate. You can check the service manual or search the forum for the topic, there are a few threads on this. It requires removing the glass lid and the top plate for the clamper arm. Then you can access the adjustment screws.

BRONZE MemberMy 9000 did the same thing, it was the what they call the “rocker arm” that was worn. There is rubber washer over part of it that wears away with age. I changed it the arm and no more scraping.

Is the scaping happening when the CD is spinning? Or is the scraping happening when the sledge is moving to another CD?
Either way, please verify that the placement screws are set correctly. See page 4-7 of the owners manual (found online).

SILVER MemberThe placement screws are Set correct. The scratching noise emitts when the CD is Spinning, sliding of the head ist absolutely noiseless.
Could you please Tell me which screws, number in th Servicemanual, have to be adjusted.

GOLD MemberThere are 2 distinctly different problems with different solutions.
#1 – as you describe, the clamper arm contacts the disc. On page 4.5 of the service manual (Sledge) you see 2 screws #34. These adjust the clamper arm.
#2 – the sledge strikes the discs (from below) as it moves from one disc to another. The rocker arm or rocker arm damper can be replaced to cure this, or the 2 small springs that are part of Module 9122 that attach to Modules 9137/9138 need to be replaced. These 2 small springs are what moves the sledge when you center the CD Mechanism (using the two placement screws mentioned above).
It seemed like you were describing issue #1 above, if so adjusting the set screws to get the clamper arm setup correctly seems right. This is described on page 5.2 of the service manual (for MK3).
The rocker arm repair is described somewhere on the forum with photos if I recall.

In my case I had to replace the whole clamper arm (2854207) as it had physically broken due to heat and I couldn’t bend it back into shape. Old on left, new on right.

SILVER MemberI turned the two screws by about 60 degrees CCW and nothing scratches anymore. Thanks for your tips and advice.
Can I put the Beosound into diagnostic mode with a Beoremote1? … or control it directly with it? It is now connected via an NL/ML converter and it works.29 January 2025 at 15:38 #63201BRONZE MemberThat’s great!
You can control the BS9000 with BR One, but I don’t think there is a way to add the “Shift” command, which is required to access test modes.

SILVER Memberyes, shift is probably the problem. with the beo4 audio mode, the rest should actually work. but unfortunately it doesn’t, which mode do I have to choose and how can I change the IR options of the bs9000 with the br 1?
do you have any tips, or do I need another 1000 or 5000 for these functions?
30 January 2025 at 13:40 #63224BRONZE MemberBS9000 IR commands will only work if there is something plugged into the Powerlink port. Do you have speakers connected? Changing option mode via remote also requires buttons that I don’t believe are available on the BR1. You would have to use an older remote. I recommend Beolink 1000 or Beo4.

SILVER MemberAll speakers are connected to the BV11. I will be purchasing a Beo4 later today.
30 January 2025 at 17:50 #63235BRONZE MemberSo, is there anything plugged into the Powerlink port on the 9000? If not, you’ll need an option 1 plug.

SILVER MemberSo I bought the beo4. Logically, the bs9000 could be switched to opt1 straight away. It now also works with the beoremoteone with the corresponding beo4 audio option. Only masterlink and headphones are connected to the bs9000.
31 January 2025 at 17:44 #63266BRONZE MemberAh I see, masterlink will do it too. Glad you got it working!
