    Hello Beoworlders,

About to change my 1st gen 55″ Eclipse, I’m facing a dilemma: 65″ Theater or 65″ Harmony?

Theater Pros: New technology, price tag, easy screen-swap.

Theater cons: Average design, floor stand VERY expensive.

Harmony Pros: Pure B&O design and beautiful movement of the speakers.

Harmony cons: A bit dated, screen swap may be difficult in the future, short EOL delay as B&O appears to drop fully integrated video products.

Brain votes Theater but Heart prefers Harmony.

My main concern is about screen-swap, as 1st gen Eclipse owners may imagine.

The second one, if heart wins, is Harmony EOL in a short term?

What would you do? Feel free to expose the reasons of your choice.

    Thanks by advance,

    Yann.

Until my Theatre purchase (with the LG G2 65 panel) ,I had a Mk1 Eclipse 65. The Eclipse was to me a nice looking TV but as you point-out, a Dog with respect to panel burn-in and replacement.

I do not like the design of the Harmony. Full Stop.

I think the Theatre is technologically quite a bit a head of the Harmony and I think it offers better value too. Im not sure about Screen replacement on the Harmony (I mean future upgrades and different makes which have the app rather than like for like).

I voted with my wallet. Theatre all the way.

I’m hoping to squeeze a few (perhaps many?) more years out of my 1st gen 65′ Eclipse.  It is on its 2nd screen… hoping this one lasts a bit longer.  Anyway, if I were to replace, I’d go with the Theater for the ability to swap the screen and the cheaper price tag.  If/when I finally dump my Eclipse, it’s going bother me that the soundbar will most likely still be quite viable, but it was let down by the panel.  Then again, I’m biased because the Theater is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for from B&O all along, but I did not feel like waiting 5 years for something that may never materialize.

    Thanks Stan,

What you describe is what I experience with my Eclipse, mine is also on it’s second screen.

So for the time being, Theater wins.

    Kind regards,

    Yann.

    Hi Yann

I am in the same dilemma as you were. Did you buy the Theatre in the end? I am assuming you did

Any regrets? Did you wish you chose the Harmony instead?

What made you choose the Theatre over the Harmony?

    Regards

    Sanjeev

    Hi Sanjeev,

    Good guess:2024-11-23 IMG_5328 - iPhone 15 Pro - iPhone 15 Pro

The main reason for my choice is the higher flexibility of the Theatre in terms of screen swapping.

Second reason is the more modern sound processor.

My doubts about EOL of Harmony were not justified at the time of my choice, as it’s still on sale.

But I recently recieved an offer for Eclipse Trade-in for the purchase of an Harmony. So today I would have the same doubts.

For the time being, 15 months after delivery, I’m very satisfied with my new TV.

    Kind regards,

    Yann.

Just design I would NOT call the Theatre Average at all. Its pretty spectacular.

Personally I would also not touch the harmony as the screen is built in and is the first thing to go outdated or broken.

The display on the Harmony is fairly easily interchangeable, at least by B&O technicians and can be used with multiple models (for example LG C3/G3/C4/G4). You have it right that the Theatre is much more advanced with its Mozart platform brain. However, it’s hard to beat the beauty of the Harmony. Trade off both ways! If you have a good system you are using in tandem with the TV (good front and surround stage), then you may not notice a huge difference in audio quality between the two, other than the lack of atmos on the Harmony.
