BRONZE MemberHi everyone. ย Am new here. ย I just recently purchased the beosound theatre and 2 beolab 17s. ย It sound great together, with the beolab 17s as the rear surround. ย Now I have my vintage beolab 2500 connected to the beosystem 2500. ย I was thinking of unhooking them and putting it along with my other set up. ย The question, for your experience, would be the beolab 17 be in the front while I use the beolab 2500 in the rear, or should I keep it vice versa. ย I would love to hear your thoughts.

At the very least they will not sound anywhere as good as having the 17’s in the front.
The 2500 would be good as rear surround speakers as they would really just be filling the void of sound behind you which are never really all that loud or demanding. ย Paired with the 17’s at the front it should all sound very impressive.
Since the theatre won’t be using the L/R built in speakers you can re-assign them to act as Centre (if that sounds too wide is up to your own taste) or you can set them to Sub Centre speakers for an extra kick.

BRONZE MemberSounds good. ย I shall try it out and update on how it goes. ย I will be getting the powerlink cables for the 2500 this Friday. ย I shall put the 2500 as ย rear surrounds and keep the 17 in the front. ย Thank you for your advice.

BRONZE MemberI finally got the cables today and installed the beolab 2500 as rear speakers and the 17s in the front. ย It sounds great. ย But a note, the app did not have a listing for beolab 2500. ย I used the beolab 4000 from the listing instead. ย I thought they would have included all speakers from the late 80s onwards. ย Would you recommend any other speakers that would match the beolab 2500 for the configuration? ย Thanks

Did you manually adjust any of the settings for those individual L/R speakers when assigning them as Centre or sub Centre in your Listening Position? I.e. redirection levels or db levels. Or just assign it and let room compensation do its thing?

BRONZE MemberI initially let the room compensation do its thing. ย But then tinkered with the db levels for the rear Beolab 2500 to get it to my liking. ย For my seating where the rear left and right are just about near the seating pushing the db level buh 2 felt / sounded better.
