Dear all,
as pointed out in this thread I have a complete Beo 7000 system including the rare AV 7000 surround module. I successfully found a suitable center speaker (ultra flat KEF T301c in white), and fixed the TV to the wall as you recommended thus leaving enough room for the center speak below – the sound is now really amazing.
So, as final touch I want to replace the no-name subwoofer that I installed for testing purpose, with a BeoLab 1 or 2. Now, these woofers have a power-link connection, while the AV 7000’s output for the subwoofer are two cinch connectors. So here are my questions to the experts 🙂 :
Does a connecting cable like this one make sense?
Or should I connect the subwoofer via powerlink cable to the right speaker (BeoLab 6000)?
Or should I go for a non B&O woofer with a cinch connection (the current woofer works fine) ?
thanks a lot for your help!
Cyana25 June 2024 at 12:56 #56997Hi Cyana,
The cable you suggested won’t work, but there are alternatives that will do what you need. Beolab 11 needs this cable to avoid noise (it has extra wiring to ensure the digital amps in this sub are correctly grounded):-
When used with the RCA outputs of the AV7000, a Beolab 2 subwoofer needs this special powered cable to generate the trigger signals to activate it:-
Any questions, please ask!
Kind regards, Steve.

thanks a lot for your reply! Not yet sure if I’m going for a BL 2 or BL 11. Does your BL 2 cable also come with a power connector for Austria (Germany) ?
thanks a lot

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the Beolab 2 trigger cable includes both European and UK mains power connectors.
Kind regards, Steve.
27 June 2024 at 12:43 #57044Hi,
why not connecting your front- and rear speakers to the existing Powerlink sockets?
You can connect your BL2/BL11 to the FRONT powerlink output and your front speakers to the BL2/BL11 PL outputs.
Connect your rear Beolabs to the rear PL outputs.
Dolby surround is an analogue 4 channel surround system using old Dolby Pro Logic technology.
You have 3 front channels (L C R) – for the center channel the AV7000 got a powered mono output.
The rear channel is a mono channel, that reproduces frequencies from 100(!) – 20000 Hz – there is no dedicated LFE(sub) channel.
Connect your BL4500s to the rear channel as described – You will have 5 soundmodes:
S1 – mono (center)
S2 – stereo (LR front)
S3 – Dolby 3 stereo ( LCR)
S4 – 4 channel stereo (stereo front and rear)
S5 – Dolby surround (only reproduced when the source material is Dolby encoded (printed on left and right tracks as Lt – Rt)
For the connections you should use fully wired PL cables, at least with 5 pins connected (blue wire) to avoit hiss/hum in digital amps like ice power…
For remote control it might be possible to change your Beoremote (BL7000/5000) from 2 way mode (in Audio mode) to 1 way mode.
All tis is quite simple and I don`t know, why nobody will tell you (?)
Hope this helps
Stefan
