Hi all
I have a CDX type 5122 I had a problem when used I would get distorted sound for about 5-10 minutes, I did a recap on the Decoder PCB 05, it seemed to solve the fault, used for about 5 days then didn’t use for week, on using again I have distorted sound on first play (not quite as long a time as before) once it clears it plays no problem, any help would be appreciated.

Check for cold solder joints. There are lots of them on that machine!
CDX runs very hot. Possible, after warming up joints expands and momentarily curing poor connections.

I presume cold solder joint is on PCB 05, it certainly seems to be that some thing is heating up to cancel the distortion, are there any obvious culprits to look at ?

As a retired mechanical engineer and not electronics expert I will give it a go, managed the recap so have had it disassembled and rebuilt once, so should be easier a second time ? I take it the rivets are easy to identify these were the caps that were replaced.
