Dear B&O enthusiasts, I was wondering, what would be a good possible set-up for computer-desktop use? Speaker(s) would be standing on my desk, near my computer screen. I currently use a ‘retro’ set of Bowers & Wilkins MMM1, I love these because of their design, minimal size, and stereo sound. Are there any B&O users that have experience with a desktop set-up of B&O products, for use with a computer? Ps I use a Macini M4.

Best : connect a Beosound core digitally to the Mac and add a pair of bl3.
Best of the best : a pair of BL8
Cheap : pair of A1 connected in BT (my solution at the office)
No stereo : a beosound Level on the desk (my solution for the home office, and the level goes to the pool in summer days off!)

BL4 directly plugged on the motherboard. Good enough for computer, and no need to add another devices to use them via line-in.

    @Teun

Why not just stick to your current setup – it seems that you like it so far.

If anything…then a set of the BL8’s – that would be a clean setup. But that is a lot of money for a desktop solution.

    P.S.

I use a set of passive AudioEngine desktop speakers driven by a small amp which is analog connected to a USB-DAC on my Mac Mini.

But I have space to hide the clutter away….which not everybody has on his desk.
Works well for me – it does not have to be B&O speakers for my limited use of desktop computing.

Interesting – I did have BL3s for a while – used a Beomaster 7000 below the computer – didn’t really like them – never felt as if they sounded integrated – like two speakers – probably because too close. Went to CX100s which were better for me. Getting old so although CX100s are still there, no longer connected as gave away the receiver!

If you want smaller speakers get a pair of Bang & Olufsen CX-50 speakers and the nice Beovox Cona subwoofer.

I’m using a set of CX100 speakers which fit perfectly in an IKEA Kallax shelf with a Cona Subwoofer in our craft room for the kids. Suprisingly well sounding setup and the speakers are proteced against playing kids in the Kallax shelf.

My god those are the worst looking B&O speakers I have ever seen. They look like they were made by acer.

Harsh – possibly because they are not fitted with the front – have a look here.

Small bookshelf speakers – not very extended bass hence the Beovox Cona but for computer use they are fine. Need an amplifier.

That might be part of it. I’m also not used to seeing traditional rectangle speaker  boxes from B&O.  The sub looks cool though.

Hey that’s cool 😎! Is the sub in that silver metal case as one could assume? If so which brand and specs?

    Kind regards,

Ha-ha, y’all are funny (as well as harsh) — a subwoofer in less than 12 cubic inches!  It’s a desk accessory, unsure who made those (it is not the Arne Jacobsen “Cylinda” for Stelton). [Edit: oops, and wow!, see below] The subwoofer is either the black box in the left corner, or else not visible, in the footwell underneath the desk.  Thumbs-up to @xschop for posting the photo in the first place, and I hope s/he takes pity on you and ID’s the cylinder!

    It’s a self made amplifier…

I use a pair of BeoLab 4’s that I used to use in the main room. I’ve connected them to a DAC which gives me really clear sound and enough bass.

Strange, that no one mentioned the Beolab 3 as an desktop solution. They use the ICE technology and were intended for this purpose 🙂

I dunno I have a pair of BL3’s and they have very little bass even when listening to 80’s pop music.
