Thank you, Johan. USM Haller and B&O always match,  I think.

I managed to hook up the MS150s yesterday. Almost broke my back! My wife didn’t see that setup yet. I wonder if she’ll notice any difference? Will she like it? If so, she’s most probably going to accept the BV11-40 I’m having an eye on too 🙂
The MS150 are huge and beautiful indeed. But soundwise? Had one former owner only and been properly refoamed by a pro. Not sure if they have been recapped as well, maybe it’s worth a try as by now I prefer my 120s, especially given their size. Also, to deliver a perceptible sound the volume has to be set at 50% minimum, although the Beoamps gain is set to the max. That’s odd, as on paper it should match the MS150 even better than the BM8000. Anyways, I now fiddled my fat audio cables (yes, I love ’em thick) into these tiny DIN plugs already, so switching between MS120.2 and MS150 is no big deal anymore. Unlike returning to the BM8000 setup. The latter deserves a complete overhaul, I’m now convinced, more than ever before.

Looks like an S/M family affair. I think I’ll stick with the 150s for a while at least. Maybe it’s just a matter of getting acquainted. Funnny: Just realised now that the 80s and the 120s are nearly the same size. Soundwise, the woofer of the 120 makes a huge difference, I think.

They look amazing, I like the stands in black most. Your cables look thicker than BeoLab 8000 rubber tubes!

Yep, these loudspeakers just look gorgeous, with or without frets. The black stands are from Ebay, a guy from Poland makes them. The quality is far from B&O standards, though. I guess, I’ll spray the grey ones from the BV80s black and mount the BV120s on them if the BV150 don’t pass the test phase. I’m afraid they won’t. A little bit disappointed, I must admit.

I know these tubes, nice! Have them on my BL2. The cables I use for my passive speakers are 4mm2. Used some shrink tube and these https://www.in-akustik.com/flexible-pin-008155 to fix them on these ridiculous DIN plugs. The sockets are hard to find on the gigantic BL150s 🙂 I know the cable thickness question tends to evoke religious-like discussions but I don’t care as to me it’s all about the looks, as long as there’s no sound-wise deterioration . Either fat cables or none at all.

Looks like a really cool clean setup there @Giorgioni – very nice indeed! I love the BV26. I still use one too, good sound and a pleasingly simple set to use.

Thank you Julian. The BV26 is a stunning TV indeed. Ours is used daily, after some 20 years. Aesthetically, I dig the BV11 more (black frame edition) and still mourn after our little MX4000. Probably the most gorgeous TV set ever made.

I use a BC26 mainly for audio 🙂. Giorgione, would a pair of trumpet stands be something?

B&O stands are very good. BeoVision 1 (nice TV too!) had beautiful stand options. Probably too large to repurpose for speakers. I am afraid that many are taken to trash with the TV nowadays.

Are you now all happy with connectivity of the system?

    Have a good evening,

    Johan

Using the BC26 for audio is quite understandable as the picture can be muted and I like it’s “straight” sound quality.  We use it to watch old series and stuff on YT, like Tiny Desk concerts e.g.

Trumpet stands are great, but I don’t think they match the Uniphase series, mabe not too large for the MS150, though. I like square and round designs, hated the triangular detail phase, like seen on the BV1 for instance 🙂 Before the MX4000,  I had an LX 6000 (if I recall correctly) too for a while, also nice and with very nice audio.

The setup is working flawlessy, B&O’s versatility continues to impress me. I finally even managed to sucsessfully integrate two Bosscom light controls, something I struggled before for some reason. Another excuse to stick with the Beo4, also if I “upgrade” to a BV11, the sad day the BC26 eventually will expire.

This discussion went off-topic time ago already, becoming just a nice setup chat, I hope that’s not an isssue. Well, I tried several different records and although digital radio wasn’t that bad, the vinyl sounded somehow muffled. Since I replaced the amplifier, the turntable and the loudspeakers the culprit wasn’t clear. So I started with switching the MS150 with the MC120 and the difference was stunning. Crisp trebles, clear mids and a punchy bass – there it was again, the MC120’s signature sound, even at lower volumes. I’m so happy now.

Even though, I don’t believe that the MS150 were meant to sound that bad. Apart from the subwoofer/-port and the much bigger cabinet they seem very similar to the MC120’s. Cosmetically, they’re like new, they also must have been re-foamed. I won’t give up on them and dare my first soldering adventure one of these days by having them recapped. Fortunately, I recenty changed job and plenty of my new colleagues are skilled in electronics. Never too old to learn something new, I think.
