I must admit I’m struggling with this one.

Beogram 4000 (or 4002, actually…) – absolute classic and a design icon known by anyone interested in audio worldwide

BeoSound 9000 – one of the most instantly recognisable bits of B&O kit and another design icon in its own right

I get the re-creation of both of these, but Beogram 3000? Really? It’s a middle of the range and unremarkable turntable from the last generation of B&O decks and the chief selling point I can see for picking it as a candidate is that there are plenty kicking around and suspect very few people will be bothered about a hundred vanishing off the market!

I’ve no doubt that the system will sound great and it looks lovely, but this is straying dangerously close to the UK comedian Harry Enfield’s “I Saw You Coming” shop sketches, for my liking.

Come on B&O – how about something NEW for your centenary?!

They have completely lost their minds if they think that price is compelling.

Well, it looks beautiful & no doubt it will sound absolutely stunning. Also a very nice solution to modern streaming requirements.

Price wise it is completely out of my league.

As an aside, will MMC cartridges be re manufactured for this product? Would they also become available to buy for those of us that still own older B&O turntables?

    just a thought….

    regards

Once again very nice, beautiful, no doubt it will sound very decent, but the price….  I would call it comedy pricing but I’m no longer laughing. Every time I see another example of B&O contriving exclusivity with absurdly high prices my love for them dies a little bit more.

    Thanks guys,

I don’t think I have ever seen another B&O product that has caused such concern amongst B&O owners and fans as this one.  I hope that B&O’s management are reading this forum (and the other ones where I have posted and received similar comments about the 3000c).

Full product review to follow soon, with the pricing situation to be covered in full…

    Kind regards, Steve.

    The Kings new clothes,perchance?

The last time I saw anything the same style as those ‘speakers,it had my friends ashes in it!

“I saw you coming” seems to be B&O’s current marketing strategy, and as an enthusiast of many years,it saddens me,alas.

    Hey ho.

Regardless of the story behind it, I find the pricing quite insulting. It feels as though B&O’s marketing team has lost touch with its long-standing customers, despite this being a niche product produced in limited numbers.

Then again, who am I to judge? Perhaps they’ve carefully studied that specific segment’s willingness to pay.

Still, I can’t help but feel disappointed, a sentiment that has increasingly defined my relationship with B&O, despite being a loyal user since the early 1980s

Echoing various sentiments expressed by others re this topic, I feel too that recreations only work if they are truly iconic products and the 3000 series is not one of those. I remember the comments made by a few when the 4000 wasn’t actually a recreation of the original 4000..rather it used a later model as its basis. The prices are pretty remarkable, as is so often the case with such niche products, but really who will pay those prices for a 3000c..? I suppose B&O know their market but most of us aren’t in that category…

They think they can buy a cheap 3000 off eBay for $400 and slap on some wood and have the board checked then mark it up for 30k? It’s literally a kick in the teeth to everyone who kept this company alive for the last 100 years.  I’m horribly unimpressed.

    What if?…

You know, I’ve always considered myself some kind of dopplegenger to MM for whatever reason…
Mostly because when the undeafendable was undeafendable he always says: “I know the mens, they’re not what you think…”

What I want to (uncertainly) want to point out is: what if, in B&O HQ, was some young enthusiast and ideologic person thinking: “OK, let’s ignite passion for that thing over whealthy “ignorant” people” and let’s passionate, historic, customers deal with it “at their level”.

Do really B&O ignore that we’re all able to do the same ? DO they use the fact that “some” people would want to bother with our “tricks” in exange for some quite dollars ?

Honeslty, my first take was: “ok, let’s find some BG’s second hand around…”

And  never liked the tapered cover. But now…
