I’m having an odd problem with my Beosystem 3, and I just cannot figure it out, so it’s back to the Beoworld Forum again!
I have a Beosystem 3 Mk2, connected to an LG HD short-throw projector (Cinebeam HF65L), using a DVI to HDMI cable. It’s working fine when I view the menu system or when I watch digital terrestrial TV via the built in DVB tuner.ย I am however having a problem when I try to watch connected HDMI.
I have connected a couple of HDMI devices to the BS3 and set them up in the connections menu as ‘Other’ devices.ย They are a Google TV streamer, and a Nintendo Switch console.
If I try to view either of those HDMI sources, the screen blinks on and off, the image is only seen for a fraction of a second, then it just keeps blinking on and off.
I don’t think the BS3 is faulty though.ย I tested it by connecting the BS3 to an HD monitor, and it worked fine connected to that – no blinking.
I know that my projector works as it works fine when HDMI devices are connected to it directly, but for some reason, the HDMI source going through the BS3 then to the projector is not working, and I only get a blinking image.
I have two DVI to HDMI cables and I’ve tried both, with the same issue.
I used to have a BS3 connected to an older projector (that was 720p rather than full HD but still connected via HDMI), and I never had the problem with that older projector.

That’s a bit inconvenient as I have no intention of connecting a normal TV screen to DVI1 – my Beosystem 3 is intended solely for use with a projector, but at least it works.
I’m assuming the DVI1 and DVI2 outputs on the BS3 must be configured differently in some way.ย The manual does say that the projector should be connected to DVI1 if you’re only using a projector, but that doesn’t work for me (not with this newer projector, anyway).
