BRONZE MemberI have a Theatre and a Beolab 19, and have ordered the Beolab 8. Looking forward to getting them.
But have a few questions when it comes to settings. I listen to a lot of music, and my recent stereo speakers was the Phantom 108.
Using Theatre, BL8, BL19 listening to music (2 ch): Would you only use BL8+BL19 for best quality? Or would you add the Theatre? If adding the Theatre, would you assign the front firing speakers as L+R role? I guess the questions is: What roles would you give the speakers in Theatre if listening to music?
Also: What are your best tips on the BL19 when it comes to frequency cut off (standard is 120Hz)?
Using Theatre, BL8, BL19 listening to movies/tv: Would you assign the front firing speakers as ยซcentre channelยป? I guess when connecting the BL8, those front firing speakers will have no role and will be cut off by the setup.
Bass management: yes?
Treble/bass settings: Flat?
Any other tips on getting the best out of this setup?
Thanks!

BRONZE MemberWith respect to tv/movie watching – let the mic calibration setup do its thing.
It will most likely allocate only one of the BST front facings as Centre channel, and that’ll most likely be ok. ย The BST Technical Sound Guide mentions that those setup including large front l/r speakers attached (50s/90s etc) may want to activate all three BST front facings as centre channels, but otherwise I’d go with the mic calibration/setup suggested setup.
As for music listening, thats more a matter of preference I’d say. ย Personally, I’d define a music listening position of BL8s+BL19 (i.e no Theatre) – that should be ideal for music. ย ย You could, for some types of listening experience, leave the Theatre off, and just use the pair of BL8s (paired, in Beosound mode) and have a nice BL8s only time.
Of course, you can experiment with including the Theatre for music – but I’m not sure if thats really going to be worth the effort.

Indeed, I do +1 this last sentence: try each config and make your choice. Though my conclusion is different.
Initially I was using only BL28 and BL3 in quadriphony so without the BST to listen to Tidal (installed like this by the B&O technician), and recently I reconfigured the whole thing with Room Sense, keeping the BST. And it is a game changer for me, definitely I do prefer the sound with the BST into the whole setup and using the Music sound mode with True Image.13 November 2023 at 20:45 #50360SimonWeir
BRONZE MemberIn addition to a Theatre I have BL17 in each corner of my room with a BL19. ย When I calibrate for all seating positions I select all WiSA / Wired speakers and all on the BST. ย This means I can remove which I donโt want. ย I do use the different modes ie TV, Movie, Music and found for music alone having all 4 x 17s ย set as either FL or FR with the FL + FR on the BST only (FC, SL, SR, Height speakers off) and the BL19 on at 120Hz gives the best results for my ears.
