Hey everyone, hope you’re doing well today ~
I have an issue that I’m hoping someone can help me fix.I have a beosound century 2000.
The tape player has been working fine until recently.
One of the spindles that lock onto the cassette reels (the right side if looking at the beosound head on) is starting to click, essentially creating a lag and eventually stopping rotation.
This causes the tape to get eaten by the player.I opened up the deck, pulled out the cassette mechanism and inspected it. I checked the belt and it looks in good condition and rotates correctly. The gear that is used to switch between forward and backward was recently replaced so that looks to be in good condition too. I cleaned what I could but the issue persists.
Then I noticed that when I rewind a tape, it does rewind correctly but when it reaches the end, the rewind motor will whirl up and make this high pitched noise for a few seconds before it stops.
What could be going wrong?
