I have a Beosound A1 Gen 2 that only sounds if turned on with the charger plugged in. Does anyone have experience of this issue? My failure mode analysis below. Also, does anybody know where I can get hold of the circuit diagram for the A1 Gen2?

      Battery condition: OK

BT status: OK, connect perfectly every time.

      Switch functionality: OK

      LED: OK

      Firmware: ver. 5.4.3 (latest)

      Microphone: Not tested.

Warranty: Nope. That’s why I’m here.

My conclusions on the failure mode so far:

      – As mentioned above, the unit only sound if turned on with the charger plugged in. If I turn on the unit without the charger plugged in, there is no sound.

      – If I unplug the charger while playing, the sound remains.

      – If I turn off the unit for 5 minutes (still unplugged), I can turn it on, it connects and sounds.

      – If I wait 10 minutes (again, unplugged) before turning it on, the failure mode is back; no sound.

      – If recreating the failure mode, then start playing music from the phone. Then I connect the USB-charger while still playing music, the speaker sparks, and then the sound is back.

      My theories so far:

      – Is there a switching function in the circuits that doesn’t operate correctly?

      – Is there a failure in a battery protective circuit in the A1? Here I asked B&O support for some input (helpful guys, but not really willing to support on component level.) I asked about if the A1 has these kinds of circuits. They confirmed: “Yes, the Beoplay A1 Gen 2 is equipped with battery protection circuits. These are designed to ensure safe operation, especially during transport. These circuits typically disconnect the battery or prevent it from being drained excessively during shipping, which helps preserve its health and longevity until the product reaches the customer”.

      – Long shot, but can one/several capacitors not be performing as intended?

      All inputs are welcome 🙂
