    New A1 is out.ย  Guess what?ย  It’s more expensive.

Looks pretty much identical to the 2nd gen, but it has a different “thingy” on the leather strap (didn’t see any article mention this so I’m doing God work here).

Longer battery life, slightly lower bass, different thingy, 5 year warranty and more easily repairable (supposedly)… all for just $100 more than the 2nd generation.ย  I guess that’s better deal than the recent price increases that didn’t change the product at all.

I will not complain (any more). At least they’re still releasing some products I can afford – even if it doesn’t seem like a reason to replace my gen2.

I actually had 2 gen 2s. A stereo pair of A1s sound far better than they should. I highly recommend!!!

However, I ultimately found the pairing process too fiddly for every day useย  so I gave my daughter one, and I use the other for conference calls on my computer and for travel. No room for 2 speakers in my travel bag. I still have a gen 1 that I have connected to TV in a small guest house… Maybe when my daughter’s A1’s battery eventually dies and she comes around asking for my other one, I will go with the gen 3.

To be positive: The new green color seems to look great! Hope they’ll release the Explore in the same color, too.

Only technical change seems to be a 3300mah battery instead of 3000mah. But canโ€™t assess what changed on the inside to get a Cradle to Cradle certification for this one. Everything else looks the same according to the productsheets..

It also has a bigger woofer than previous model.

Itโ€™s actually a little bit smaller. 3 1/4โ€ instead of the 3,5โ€ woofer of the 2nd gen. Overlooked it when I last looked at the specsheet.

Thanks for posting those product sheets.ย  I was having difficulty finding gen2 information now that it seems to have been scrubbed from B&O’s website.

Additional differences I haven’t seen mentioned in any articles:

    • No more Alexa. I believe Amazon has mostly given up on this as well. Never used this on my Gen2.
    • A *fabric* USB cable. Luxury all the way.
    • 18 g heavier. Must be the bigger battery.
