BRONZE MemberNew A1 is out. Guess what? It’s more expensive.
Looks pretty much identical to the 2nd gen, but it has a different “thingy” on the leather strap (didn’t see any article mention this so I’m doing God work here).
Longer battery life, slightly lower bass, different thingy, 5 year warranty and more easily repairable (supposedly)… all for just $100 more than the 2nd generation. I guess that’s better deal than the recent price increases that didn’t change the product at all.
I will not complain (any more). At least they’re still releasing some products I can afford – even if it doesn’t seem like a reason to replace my gen2.

BRONZE MemberI actually had 2 gen 2s. A stereo pair of A1s sound far better than they should. I highly recommend!!!
However, I ultimately found the pairing process too fiddly for every day use so I gave my daughter one, and I use the other for conference calls on my computer and for travel. No room for 2 speakers in my travel bag. I still have a gen 1 that I have connected to TV in a small guest house… Maybe when my daughter’s A1’s battery eventually dies and she comes around asking for my other one, I will go with the gen 3.

BRONZE MemberOnly technical change seems to be a 3300mah battery instead of 3000mah. But can’t assess what changed on the inside to get a Cradle to Cradle certification for this one. Everything else looks the same according to the productsheets..

BRONZE Memberout of curiosity, do you know how the beosound a1 sounds compare to the beosound emerge?

BRONZE MemberIt also has a bigger woofer than previous model.

It’s actually a little bit smaller. 3 1/4” instead of the 3,5” woofer of the 2nd gen. Overlooked it when I last looked at the specsheet.

BRONZE MemberThanks for posting those product sheets. I was having difficulty finding gen2 information now that it seems to have been scrubbed from B&O’s website.
Additional differences I haven’t seen mentioned in any articles:
- No more Alexa. I believe Amazon has mostly given up on this as well. Never used this on my Gen2.
- A *fabric* USB cable. Luxury all the way.
- 18 g heavier. Must be the bigger battery.

My Emerge sounds so much better than my Beosound A1 2gen.

BRONZE MemberHas anyone compared a stereo pair of them to a pair of either the 1st or 2nd generations?
I also wonder if the manual pairing sequence is still the same.

BRONZE MemberI’m still on a pair of 1st gens. Been round the world with one of them 8 years ago and it’s still going, so happy to have had it accompanying me, and now with two, just wow.
Yes stereo pairing was a pain with one or both cutting out occasionally, so also interested to hear if it’s any better on the 3rd gen, however I do sometimes use the 3.5mm port that only exists on the 1st gen for connecting to my portable projector. I literally have an amazing stereo cinema in my luggage with no lip-sync issues. (I believe two in stereo introduces even more Bluetooth latency than just one, often beyond any audio delay setting even if your projector does have that ability which mine does)

FOUNDER MemberActually, I like the idea of a couple of A1s on a pair of A9-like mini-stands for PC speakers.
How’s the best way to pair it to a PC and keep them charged? BT sound with two USB cables for power or will sound and power be transfer with the USB-C as stereo pair??
