BRONZE MemberHi all,
I have a Beosound 4000 with a disc reading issue. This unit has the CDM12-IND laser with the later board iterations (PCB89 instead of PCB8). I have repaired a lot of these units and I do not believe it to be related to the laser.
When CD is pressed, the display changes to “CD” or “CD <>”, the laser attempts focus, but does not spin AT ALL. Typically with laser issues, the drive will spin a few times and then stop.
In testmode it will attepmt focus, I can get the laser sledge to move back and forth, and I can get the disc to spin all on their own, but nothing happens in the CD-specific test procedure. I am not able to get any CD error codes from testmode because of this issue.
In the “New Version CDM12” service manual it states:
Disc motor does not start: If focus is searched and the laser switches on, and yet the disc motor does not rotate, the error is probably in the transport mechanism itself. For
further service tips, see section 5 (section 7 as regards Beocenter/
Beosystem 2500-2300).This states to reference section 5 (or 7), but transport issues are not specifically mentioned here.
Any insight would be amazing, thanks!
