Beosound 4 or Beosound Moment?

I am ready to buy a second hand Beosound for a secondary room. 2 options for me: BS 4 or BS Moment to pair with BL4 speakers. Same price, same condition (very good), i use Deezer, CDs and also SD cards. I like the design and features of both. What do you think? Which one would be more “futureproof” for the next ten years?

Well, you can’t use Deezer on either and you can only use CD’s and SD card on the BS4. So that leaves you with the BS4…..and some kind of (AUX-)connected dongle solution for the Deezer part.

To ‘futureproof’….hard to say anything there 😉

Reading other threads about the moment the tablet part of it might be prone to failure and is a hard repair.

As for the BS4 they might need some service if you do not find a unit that already has been service. One thing is the coating that tends to get sticky and takes some work to remove. Also a new belt for the glass door mechanism might be needed.

If you do require SD card playback that and Beosound 3 might be the only options from B&O besides the Beosond 2 MP3 player, but none of those have CD.

I thought there was a problem with the inner ring of the moodwheel but not with Deezer.

I have both.

I have a selection of albums on SD cards in an Hermes tray next to the Beosound 4 as a novelty for guests to choose music. However, I never use the BS4.

I have x3 Moments in my home and use them every day. Deezer definitely still works on the Moment. I love the search interface to find artists/albums/tracks. The moodwheel is a nice feature. FYI, now ALL ASE B&O devices appear as “TVs” to which you can integrate the Moment to use that device as the speaker. For example, I have a Moment in my kitchen integrated with the (ASE) Beosound 2 to use it as the speaker.

I have a BS4 and it had most of the coating removed except for in he CD compartment which never gets touched. I have my Beogram going into Aux and both are hooked to the Theatre. I like it a lot. Mine can only handle 2gb SD cards as it didn’t get the required update for the 8gb. Not that I ever use SD. The BL4s match the bs4 as they were sold at the same time.

Not owned a Moment. B&O seem to be moving to Tidal nowadays so not sure how much longer Deezer is an option. I think when the Moment goes it’s. Basically an ornament whereas the BS4 could be serviced but only with certain companies.

I don’t think you can futureproof any of this stuff for a decade. Maybe a few years and then good care and luck play more of a part
