Evening, all. I am currently working on a Beomaster 8000 and looking for a bit of advice. So far, the repair has been going well, and I have recapped everything; this worked well to solve an issue on the power supply board, causing the device to short whenever plugged into the outlet. Also, one of the giant power filter caps had leaked; luckily, it doesn’t seem to have caused too much damage.
My question is regarding my problem with the right amplifier board. When turned on, R225 will immediately start to burn and, if left unchecked, ignite. Replacing the cap doesn’t seem to make any difference, nor did the recapping above. I will start troubleshooting, but I figured I’d ask if anyone had a similar problem before.
Additionally, I noticed that on the tone control board, there is a chip (IC6) that looks to be burned out. I will replace it and check the caps surrounding it, but I wanted to see if this might be connected. The signal path leads from here to the R225 after some travel. Could this dead chip be causing the issue?
Thanks all! Appreciated.
Note: Some pics were taken before the recap. All caps have now been replaced.
