Hello,
I have three questions and would appreciate your insight into them.
1- Is it possible to choose the sound source in a mixed NL+ML system the same way as a pure ML system? More specifically, can I use the controls on Beolink-eye to control a Mozart-based source?
2- In such a system, can I use a Beosound Essence remote instead of the Beolink-eye (assuming that Besound Essence is part of the mixed system)?
3- Can the controls on Beolab 2000 (as part of a mixed NL+ML system) be used to “join” or control the sound source?13 August 2024 at 22:34 #58264In a „mixed“ NL/ML Network you have two options of „choosing“ the sound source:
One – you connect your ML device via BLC to your NL device. Then you „map“ the respective IR commands with the sources, i. e. B&O Radio to „Radio“ (ML). This should be possible for ASE and Mozart products. I can check with my BS Emerge.
Two – you join in on a current network playback
Your questions:
1 – Not quite sure what you have in mind when asking about „controlling“ a Mozart source with „the controls“ of an IR eye? To my knowledge, you can set a timer and connect / join in on a network playback, using the IR eye as a direct interface and that is all. I am referring to the round silver one with Timer / Play buttons, giving the possibility to control main room systems in a Link room. Joining in on a Mozart playback in the network is possible (Emerge, Balance in my case), about timer setting I cannot give any advice, sorry, I never used it. In case of using a Beo4, a BR1 in IR mode or an Essence remote in IR mode, it is possible to control the „borrowed“ sources of the connected NL device(s) to the ML device via the IR eye.
2 – I do not know how an Essence remote could replace an IR eye? One is a remote, the latter a transmitter of remote commands. Maybe you can explain more specifically?
3 – I can confirm that BL 2000 can join i. e. the Emerge, if it is active in the network (option two above). In this case you will be able to control the local sound functions of the unit, but not more. In case of option one above, you will be able to control the source, if you have it connected and mapped correctly. Since BL 2000 is a Link system, it acts like an IR eye in some way, transmitting the remote signals to the main room ML source. So, using a remote, you can use any commands you have connected and mapped. Using the control buttons of the BL 2000, only those which are connected and mapped will be functional. I. e., if you want to send the command for DVD, it will not be possible to use the BL 2000 directly, because the respective button / command is missing.
Hope that helps.
Kind regards,
Rolf
