BRONZE MemberHello,
I am really hoping somebody may be able to help or advise.
I’ve recently performed a complete re-cap of two Penta Mk3 amps. While time consuming, the first amp went like an absolute dream and powered up and then fell into standby first time without issue. Beginners luck I now think.
The second amp however, did not go as smoothly.
When connected to the power the second amp shows the red standby LED but as soon as I move the switch to ON the LED changes to green (extremely briefly) and in the same instant, the relay on the transformer clicks, then the LED turns orange and stays that way until disconnected from the power.
At the very first power on there was also an audible hum from the amp but that tailed off after a few seconds and it hasn’t done it again since.
If I’ve made a mistake with the recap on the second amp I simply can’t see it.
I appreciate this isn’t a great deal to go on but I am wondering if anybody else has experienced anything similar or could explain what can cause the Penta amps to go into protection mode?
