BRONZE MemberHello everyone. I am new to bang olufsen system. I have a question how do i connect beolab 8000 to pro-ject debut carbon so that i can adjust the volume of the speakers. At the moment i only have a turntable, speakers and phono box pro-ject. Thank you

Alternatively, you could get something from B&O like a Beosound Ouverture, or something new like a Beoconnect Core (this one will give you streaming and multi-room features)

Then you can get a Essence Mark 2 (cheapest option but works great) to connect everything.
Alternatively you can get a Core previous or current gen but there won’t be many advantages to them and it will cost much much more.

BRONZE MemberIf your budget can stretch it I would opt for a Wiim Ultra. It has a phono preamp built in (not the best but perfectly capable) and you gain all the modern streaming functions, EQ and a remote. My Wiim pro works perfectly on a set 8000 I had so the ultra will do even better (better built in DAC) if you want to stay analoge then the option is a phono pre amp with volume control. ย The volume control is key as the Beolab speakers of that generation don’t have any volume control built in as you and your neighbors might have found out.
4 March 2025 at 18:57 #64317BRONZE MemberI don’t know about the Wiim Ultra but I assume you cannot use the B&O app to control anything if you do. A pre-amp can be had for about $100 so I wouldn’t worry about getting one built in.
The Essence, Core both have an EQ of sorts (But you don’t really need it as it configures for your speakers on its own). ย Even better you get full use of the B&O app and you can use remotes from your phone, iPad, Mac as well as the Essence remote (super good) and the Halo remote. Not to mention you also get all your streaming services this way.

BRONZE MemberThanks everyone for your help. Can I use this sequence: turntable – pre phono box – sonos connect – beolab 8000? Sonos is quite cheap – you can find it for 40โฌ in Italy. Will this work?
5 March 2025 at 14:11 #64344BRONZE MemberI imagine this would work fine. If you are shopping for used Sonos, please make sure the manufacture date is 2015 or newer – Only units 2015 or newer will work with the current-gen Sonos app (I think the cut off date was technically mid 2014 but just to be safe).
A more reliable(?) new solution may be something like the Wiim Pro as it has a line-in for the turntable and line-out for the 6000s. It wont give full streaming capabilities but Airplay is a close second on a budget.
