      Hello everyone,

After trying so many many times to perform the room compensation via microphone provided  to me by the dealer, I have failed to achieve the expected results. In most instances the process stops at 0% after tapping the mic’s icon, and it fails to initialize the process, and no sound is emanated by the speakers. Also many times, happened that after I entered the name for the room compensation, nothing would actually happen and a blank page is then presented instead on the calibration button. Only in two instances thou, the calibration process (with sounds) actually started, but in both cases after the first set of sounds relative to the first position of mic, the app tells to set the mic for the third spot, skipping the second positioning. And in both cases while performing that third set the speakers went into standby mode, not finishing the process. It’s very frustrating to say the least.
Did any of you have similar experience?
      Thank you for reading this.

I also should’ve mentioned that the microphone that the dealership sent to me looks different from the microphone the installers were using the first day when the speakers were brought to me. In fact my new microphone is incorporated into a small tripod/stand. The dealer at first said it was 100% incorrect but then he reverted his statement saying that this is a new mic designed for Theater and can also be used with the BL50. Does anyone else used this with the 50s?

Hi ! This is not the microphone calibrated for BL50

ask your dealer to order the right one (same for BL90 and BL50)

I’m not 100% certain…..but I believe that B&O have standardised all their external microphones for the Theatre, BL50 and 90 to the Theatre mic (plus an add-on 3.5mm to RJ45 adapter). Contact your Dealer.

The original BL90 mic (and I assume BL50) was based on the Behringer ECM8000. A shorter neck and single piece inc cable. The ECM8000, requires a XLR to RJ45 cable as well (plus unknown wiring solution at the connections making it too much faff)

That aside, I have had issues calibrating the BL90s with the Theatre mic but not the Behringer. Maybe there is something in it or not?? Contact your Dealer.

… my dealer told me as well that B&O has indeed standardized the Mic but, it doesn’t work, It’s very buggy. The speakers go to standby while calibration process still going (…when and if does).
Beside the fact that it doesn’t work, the mic/stand combo is not ideal to take measurements properly. these speakers deserve a proper microphone on a real stand as Yossi has shown.

I’m resuscitating this thread with an update for whoever curious…

The dealer was kind to send me the original microphone, the ones that were originally sold along the Beolab 50, and it worked like a charm at my first try!
So, the culprit of my frustration was indeed the  microphone. Thanks again for reading this.

Hope the dealer reports that to HQ so that they can fix the integration of older Beolab speakers with the new standardised mics.
