Beolab 17 and 19 wireless integration

Hello everyone,

I am upgrading my sound system and I need your advices.

For the moment, I just have a Beoplay A9 4th gen.
I want to add a pair of Beolab 17 and a Beolab 19.

I am planning also to buy an ever solo A6 to stream Tidal and Apple Music lossless.

I really want to stream the music wirelessly.

 

I was thinking first to buy a beosound core but it’s not WISA, so I can’t stream to beolab 19 and 17.

 

I thought also buying a beosound moment, but I am not sure I can stream wirelessly to my beoplay A9.
Could I stream also wirelessly to beolab 17 and 19 ?

What is the best solution to my problem?

The best solution to your problem?  Wires.

Sorry to be so didactic.  But you are about to pay an electrician to pull high-voltage AC wires to the hidden floor outlet or whatever, just to power your self-amplified speakers.  OK, ask them to pull a low voltage cable (Powerlink multi-conductor) to the same place!  Very low additional cost.  Or you’re about to run a power cord from your speakers to a convenient wall box. Run the Powerlink cable using well-known, time-honored methods for traversing the perimeter of a room, to the same spot, on the floor underneath the AC wall box, and add a cable sheath to hold both, running from the wall to your speaker.

(This advice is just saving you the trouble of posting in another couple months, “My WiSA connection keeps acting up and my speakers are offline”…:-)

So my best bet is a beosound core linked by wire to the Beolab 17.

How about the beolab 19? Same thing?

Last question… did you think it will be any delay between the sound stream to my beoplay a9 wireless by the beosound core and the wired stream to beolab 17?

quick question – why would you need to stream from a Core to the A9?

I dont even think the Core even can connect to an A9.

I am not an audiophile for sure, and I like a wide soundstage.
My new living room will be more than 60 sqm in a rectangle shape and I want to fill the opposite wall with a speaker.

Furthermore I don’t want to get rid of my beoplay a9…

Wait a minute…
….the Core and the A9 can both be part of a B&O multiroom setup – of course the Core also need the speakers.
If one wants to stream from external to these devices, it is possible via Airplay 2 or Chromecast (depending on ones priorities) – e.g. for Tidal and Apple Music. The B&O devices also support Tidal Connect with the recent update.
You can use B&O Radio and the built-in sources on both and let the second join the first, if you have already started playback.

 

The big question here is how to make the cable management, if you prefer the physical connection.
Since there is no PL-out in the 19 and only one PL-out in the Core, you will have to use a splitter (and do the bas management via the controls on the BL19). All doable, but needs to be well planned.

Sure, the easier way would be to go wireless/WiSA.

And – as mentioned – WiSA is not everywhere the optimal solution.

I know of no B&O device – apart from the Beovisions/BS Theatre – that has WiSA built-in……stay away from the BS Moment, please.

It should be possible to use the Ever Solo as a player for the BL17/19-Transmitter combo – toslink out and toslink in.
But you will not be able to stream from the Solo to the A9.
You can stream from extern (via a mobile device) using Airplay2 or Tidal Connect to either one or to both.

I am not sure how the volume control on the Ever Solo using toslink out will work???
Using the BS Core it is much easier, when it comes to volume control….just use the B&O app and/or the Beoremote One.

I’d check Steve (from sounds heavenly) video on YT about the 17s and connection options.

Hint, if you use optical you need a streamer with a volume controlled optical output – you’ll need to check whether there Eversolo does.

Alternatively you can use the analog-out and connect that to the analog-in on the Transmitter.

Is there not just a much easier solution?

If you want music to a pair of 17s and a 19 sub, you need a streaming DAC (in the category that the Eversolo exists in) with not only analogue RCA outputs, but also an analogue sub output.     I don’t think the Eversolo has a sub output. Something like the Blusound Node does have both outputs you need though. Connect a Node to the 17s and 19 (both of which have analogue RCA inputs), and you have your 17s/19 music system.

As for controlling your music (selecting albums, what to play etc), you’d be using the Tidal or Apple Music app anyway, and you’ll also be able to select the A9 as well.   (the Node doesn’t have Chromecast built in, in case that matters to you).

I will get a blue sound Node X and wired everything in RCA. I will ask Steve later for the cables since I noticed it’s not a twin RCA output on the Node.

Sometimes I miss @Peterpan.  (@Didork’s pic is from a Y splitter RCA cable, in case you couldn’t tell.) You don’t need double outputs, do you?  Buy 3 of single RCA-male to RCA-male cables: Left single cable goes into the L RCA of the left speaker, right single cable to the R jack of the other speaker (and sub RCA to the sub).  17’s don’t daisy-chain analog RCA input, and each speaker doesn’t need both right and left like Powerlink would be.  (Open the diagram in step 4 of https://support.bang-olufsen.com/hc/en-us/articles/360054694571-Beolab-17-first-time-setup in its own window to get full-size. That’s the reason the second RCA line is dotted, you choose one or the other jack.  I guess you have to make the L/R switch match too.)
