Jonathan McCallBRONZE MemberThanks – that’s interesting. Although I’m getting nothing.
Could be a dicky Powerlink cable, I’ll do a continuity test on it tomorrow.
Appreciate the help.

Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberSounds like a good idea.
I will try and see if I can get mine working in the weekend.

Jonathan McCallBRONZE MemberGood luck – interestingly, I found a green micro switch tucked away on the ICE board. Tried pressing it with power off and with power on, but no change. Could be that it needs to be held in for a few seconds ?
Just surmising of course, but there must be a reason for it.

Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberI don’t think it should be necessary to press a button. The button might be needed for service.

Jonathan McCallBRONZE MemberAre you sorted Jacob ? Hopefully you’ve got it all working again.

Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberI soldered the new IC, but when installing the boards, I managed to rip off a bi-amp IC, so I am now waiting for a replacement for that. When installing the boards, they have to be forced down on each side of this plastic extrusion (pic 1). This means that the components on pic 2 are prone to being ripped off. Bad design…

Jonathan McCallBRONZE MemberWonder if that’s the same on the 14 ? Must admit, I didn’t seem to have any mounting issues.
How far apart are the 14 and S8 in terms of design, componentry etc ?
20 January 2025 at 12:06 #62925
Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberMy S8 is the earlier model, which should be identical to the 14’s. Do you have pictures of the mounting on yours? I believe they use the same ICEpower module and power supply.

Jonathan McCallBRONZE MemberWill see if I can get some later.

Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberThanks! Did you get yours to work?
24 January 2025 at 09:49 #63043
Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberJust an update,
Got the other IC soldered, and the sub assembled. Will be testing it today or tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t explode, in which case, you wont hear from me again 😀

Jonathan McCallBRONZE MemberThanks for the update. My cable arrived from Steve along with helpful instructions on which of the 4 sockets to plug it in to. Turns out I was using all the wrong options.
Still doesn’t work.
Will hopefully be able to get some time on it at the weekend and see if that little green micro switch needs pressing.
Good luck !

Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberHey, did you get time to look at it? I finally got time to test mine, and as yours, I get absolutely nothing. It is completely dead, and I am wondering if a smd fuse might have blown on the power supply board.
28 January 2025 at 19:59 #63171
Jonathan McCallBRONZE MemberHi Jacob – haven’t revisited I’m afraid, I was away at the weekend and had a ton of things on since. Did you try the green button ?
I’m afraid I wouldn’t know where to start, looking at the individual smd’s, even with a circuit diagram I’m a bit lost when it comes to testing the various components.
Would obviously be very keen to see if you get any joy.
Cheers
Jonny

Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberNo, I haven’t tried the green button, and I don’t know what it is for. I’m not that interested in testing with live 230v on exposed capacitors, but it might be necessary to see where it goes wrong.

Jonathan McCallBRONZE MemberAny joy Jacob ? Funnily enough there’s a post re and S8 not powering up. Looks like the capacitors could be an issue.
Cheers

Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberSadly not, I haven’t looked into it yet. Can you link the post? Would be interesting to see if it is the same problem.

Jacob Terp ChristensenBRONZE MemberThanks, I’ll watch the thread to see if any new info is shared. Although I do not get any hiss or anything, it might be of value.

adyanBRONZE MemberHello,
also try to repair a Beolab 14 Sub, sadly I´m not the fist who opened it…
after inspecting the mainboard I found that there is a component missing, maybe someone can point me in the right direction what is missing there. Also would be nice to have a picture from this section.
There is also a problem with the NTC, see here:
https://forum.beoworld.org/forums/topic/beolab-14-subwoofer-repair/
Thanks in advance, Regards
