    Hi there,

I already read a lot concerning this CD drive but my problem still not solved.

    Here is my case:

My beogram 5500 has not been used for a while and now that i want to use it, I’m facing reading problem with some CD’s… maybe 20 to 30% of them. All these CD’s are genuine original bought from store not hardly scratched and they will play on another device (in my car for example). It is always the same CD’s that will refuse to play on the beogram. For the fun, I tried a CD-R that i burned some time ago and no problem, perfect playing.

I replaced all the electrolytic capacitors from the board using the kit found on dk***parts. I’m sure of my soldering skills and checked two times for the bounds and polarity. I also tried with a Vishay capacitior for C1203 (ref MAL203035339E3) with no more luck. Resistors 3101 & 3104 have been checked and values are in range.

When I say not playing, it means that sometimes, for the same “faulty” CD, the number of song will be displayed (and i can change the track with remote or play button), but no sounds, or the device will just go standby or even sometimes it plays it but with “cuts” or strange sounds…

Do you guys have any clue that could help me with this?

    Tks for your help

    Philippe

    —- SOLVED —-

Tks to Lisa from dksoundparts who gave me the clue.

I messed up with the tray’s calibration and just by lifted slightly up the all tray (with the 2 screws located beneath the device), hourrra, my CD’s came back to life ^_^

Hope this will be useful to others

    Philippe
