BRONZE MemberThanks YannChris for the link to the belt, I’ll be sure to purchase it. In the meantime I used a regular stationary rubber band and it works pretty well . Of course durability is an issue, but for testing the device it works well. I’ll be sure to replace it soon with the triangular one.
And thanks Mark for the suggestions about the DIN-RCA cable. I currently have a generic one just for testing. But I’ll be sure to get the correct one and retest it.
I’ll keep you posted

BRONZE MemberHello, how are you? I’m back 🙂
I have new updates. I got a grounded Din to RCA cable in order to connect the 8002 to the amp hoping grounding was the cause of the hissing noise. Sadly, that’s not the case. Even with the grounded cable the noise persists. I tested it with different amps to rule out a faulty connection on the amp side, but got the same results.
The hissing sound only appears when I press Play or Turn, if I press Stop the hissing sound stops. The hissing noise only appears to be present at the same time the platter motor is engaged.
I have also cleaned the connections with Deoxit and ensured the mechanism is floating correctly above the chasis.
If I put a second on it sounds fine but the hissing noise never disappears which makes listening to music not possible.
Does anyone know what could be causing this noise?
Thank youI’m attaching a video to demo the noise.

What component are you connecting it to and specifically what cable are you using? If you are not using a DIN to DIN cable are you connecting the phono ground wire?

BRONZE MemberSorry for the poor audio from the previous video. I’m uploading a new one.
And yes, the ground wire is connected too.Attachments:

First, I would move the arm over and cue it down before the edge of the record to see if the sound changes when it unmutes. I will bet it does. If so, then your 3rd party DIN cable does not have the ground wire connected properly. It needs to connect only to the DIN connector sleeve. If it is connected properly, then the issue may be on the connector board in the turntable.

BRONZE MemberHello, thanks for the feedback Mark. I re-wired the cable to make sure the grounding pin was connected to the sleeve on the Din plug and that fixed the issue. The 8002 is now sounding great!
I’ll start work on the busted dust cover to finalize the complete restoration.
Thank you all for your support! -
