Hello
I recently inherited my in laws old beogram 7000 cd player. It seems to be in fine condition except the player will skip through part of songs stutter or speed up in that annoying way. Is there a way to fix this? Is it about cleaning the lens ? How do I in that case do that? (I am new to the gentle art of fixing old stereo equipment )
hope you can help me
best / Mathias

the CD5500-7000 has almost no problems with dust on the lense, just with cleaning attacks on the drive…
The main problem are the 30-40 years of use für the capacitors on the drive controller. They need replacement.
You will need a recap. But do it with the right material… there are lots of informations in the old workbench section.

thanks for the answer! A couple of further questions:
1)
by “ just with cleaning attacks on the drive…” do you then mean that cleaning wears down the drive?
2)
What is “the right materials” when it comes to capacitors on the drive controller?
do you know of anyone who makes these kind of repairs ? Best
