Hi, I have a Beogram 5500 which Iโ€™ve connected to my B&O Stage through the line in. I get an awful buzzing when anything is playing.

setup is Beogram 5pin to rca line in on a pre amp

line out rca to 3.5mm jack which goes to the stage.

any suggestions as itโ€™s driving me crazy.

    thanks in advance

    Steven

You mention a preamp but donโ€™t mention which one and whether you are using the proper Phone DIN cable to it. This cable has double screening and is a requirement to prevent hum and buzz.

    Thanks for replying.

this is what Iโ€™ve got going into the amp from the Beogram cable:

    5 Pin DIN Female to 2 RCA Maleโ€ฆ https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BVN17132?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

    this is the amp:

    Pro-Ject Phono Box (DC), MM/MCโ€ฆ https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007DB5I60?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

any help / advice would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    Steven

I think you need a cable with a proper earthing from the turntable.ย  The connector youโ€™ve bought wonโ€™t have this.

You can get one at Sounds Heavenly.ย  Or, Beocable on eBay do one.

Iโ€™d be interested how you get on as Iโ€™m intending to connect my Beogram 3300 to an amp using the Pro-ject phono box with the Beocable connector.ย  Iโ€™m just waiting to buy an MMC4 cartridge.

If you have the original phono DIN cable marked with a PH then B&O used to have DIN->RCA adaptor that had an external ground wire which is needed. If you can find that then a special internally grounded one such as https://soundsheavenly.com/beogram-record-players/14-2244-beogram-to-non-bo-device-as-used-on-beogram-4000c-phono-pre-amp-receiver-amplifier-etc-bo-ref-6271348.html#/2-length-1m/60-grounding-internal_ground_link will work.

I have the same problem with my Beogram 5500. A specialist in Berlin told me, that I should solder a wire between the PIN in the middle (=ground) and the plug housing. I have not done this so far. But it seems, this is the only solution to get this fixed from the source.

But I am just wondering, why this is necessary, as this is a mass product.
