      Hello kind members,

I got a good deal on an original 4002 turntable that is having speed issues. Tone arm and electronics work, the record spins, and it is producing sound. However there is an incredible amount of wowing speed fluctuation. What parts should I be looking at and could someone guide me on a process of elimination for getting the turntable running smoothly again? Alternately if anyone knows a good tech in the PNW, i’d be glad to know them.

      Thank you 🙂

At first I would replace the platterbelt with a new one, if there is still wow you have to dig deeper.

Listen without amp but record on if there is some scraping noise from platter to other parts inside.

        Beoparts provides the right platterbelts

If you are already working on the turntable maybe you renew the belt for the tangential drive too.

        Kind regards

        Christian

That problem is generally the speed selection relay and trimmers need replacement. You can find updated replacements from Beoparts-shop.com.
