BRONZE MemberHi!
I have had some issues with my Beogram 4002. It has been playing at various speeds, and sometimes slowing down and back up again, but a couple of times it has slowed down and stopped. I opened it up, and realized the belt had come off. I have bought a replacement belt, but have now run into a new issue.
I put on the new belt, but now the motor (which drives the platter) does not spin. Or, more precisely, it sometimes spins, but for the most part it is seemingly dead. The few times it has started as expected, it stops when the needle touches the record.
I have very little experience with repairs, but if anyone has any suggestions as to what is wrong and how to fix it, that would be great!

ModeratorHi,
Does it behave the same way when you remove the belt? If not, it may be the belt that is not correct at put to much strain on the motor or something like that.
It is common in this forum to only trust belts sold by Danish Sound Parts, sponsor of the this place. Nevertheless, try the deck without belt and see if the motor spins. If it does, try to gently pinch the pulley and see if it stops easely. In all case, your motor will surely benefit from an overhaul (lubrication). Also know that speed unstability may also come from the electronic part, namely a relay with corrodes contacts or bad trimers.
Good Luck.
