BRONZE MemberHello All,
I am lubricating my Beogram 4002 and doing some minor adjustments. I have cleaned all of the old lubricants off of the tonearm lowering mechanism at the base of the tonearm including the damper cylinder. I have tried adjusting the tonearm lowering speed and do not seem to get a speed response in the lowering. Adjusting the screw in the damper cylinder does not seem to slow the drop speed. I used a silicone grease lubricant for the damper; did I not use enough grease or is there something else that is not slowing the speed at which the tonearm drops? I even tried a different spare damper cylinder which did not make a difference.
Thanks for any suggestions.

SILVER MemberSilicone grease is very viscous, I use very thin oil, model railway engine type, however if the cylinder or it’s regulator valve is passing all your damping is lost…can you close the valve fully so the damper won’t allow the tone arm to drop?
