I am new to this forum but I do feel the need to seek fellow members’ help on the auto reverse function of my newly purchased second hand Beocord 7000.
I bought it from Wallapop in Spain, which was supposedly in good functional condition. However, when it finally arrived in HK where I live, the exterior was full of decade-old dust and the three belts inside had melted in need of replacement. After replacing them with parts from Danish Sound, the tape transport could hardly rewind at all. Upon investigation, I found that the magnet gear on the left could hardly move possibly due to natural expansion of the black plastic base it sits on overtime. After twisting and turning the magnet gear a few times, it now runs very smoothly and the machine can play side B really well.
What is left now is to fix the auto reverse function, as the Beocord fails to play side A despite me pressing the “turn” button (which will stop playing side B but resume when the same button is pressed again). I am puzzled what I have done wrongly in the reassembly process. Could someone tell me what I need to check in order to find the solution? BTW, I have found the spring in the photo not knowing where it should go as it is not in the service manual. Could this be the cause of the malfunction?
Many thanks to you all.
