GOLD MemberHi all, first post – glad to have this resource for fans of vintage B&O.
If anyone has a 120V transformer for a Beocord 5500-7000 they’d like to part with, I’d buy it.ย I didn’t realize they’d “black-boxed” these transformers when I purchased a BC7000 out of GB, so I had to swap the one from my BC6500. I’m understanding of the “use a 240V power transformer from the outlet” possibility – and that does work fine –ย but I thought Id inquire about just the transformer. There must be more than a few of them lying around unused, given the endless supply of inexpensive, nonfunctional Beocords I keep seeing on eBay (yet too expensive to ship to CA USA, just for me to harvest the transformer).
Apologies if I missed an archived thread on this specific topic- I did search for any earlier discussions, and found nothing.ย Just in examining the transformer, I cant immediately tell if it’s one single winding or two windings in series, so there’s no obvious way to reconfigure it to derive the proper DC voltage from the 240V unit in a 120v AC input, as there is on a Beomaster 6500-7000, for example. Everything is glued together with the intent of keeping me out, so I figured I’d post about it first. Any retrofit information is also greatly appreciated.
