beocenter 9300 & beo 1000 weird problem

So I have two working beocenter 9300’s.

I have a beo 1000 remote control.

The remote works perfect on one of the 9300’s.

On the other 9300 if you press cd it switches on the cd and it plays.. but if you press any other button ie 4 to change to track 4 it puts the machine into a kind of standby and the aux light comes on.

I have swapped over the infra red panels and  it makes no difference the same non working machine still doesn’t work with the remote.  The other one works fine with the new IFR panel.

The non working machine works perfect by hand

Anyone got any ideas?  thanks
