Finally got back to this today, the BV 10-32 is now installed and working perfectly!
I have the BC master connected to the tv using a masterlink, and a scart lead and a connection to the head unit, the head unit power on indicator is continually flashing, I have tried all the plugs etc, I am looking for suggestions as to my problem!
1 December 2024 at 12:28 #61258Looking at this old thread it might indicate that it has to do with PIN code protection
2 December 2024 at 13:25 #61286Mr Dumb getting Dumber, I had forgotten about the Pincode as the tv (BV10-40) does not have one!
So entered the pin code, re prog’d the unit for masterlink operation, no response, — reprog’d as a stand alone, connected some BL speakers and yes it works.
I will now try some different masterlink cables as a starter to try to id my problem, meantime, anyone out there with any suggestions please feel free to make ’em!
4 December 2024 at 09:19 #61335So have now tried various things,
Tried various masterlink cables, between the BC2 and the 10-40, using then there appears to be no comms between the 2 pieces, also connected an Ouverture and prog’d that still no activity although the ouverture works with a 10-32 tv.
So the problem appears to be either the tv masterlink socket, the BC2 socket or the link programming. I have tried 2 other Beo4’s they made no difference.
Is / are there any other things to try / check?
Thanks!
4 December 2024 at 17:08 #61344Is it possible to connect the BC2 to the BV10-32? Then you can rule out of it is the BC2 that has an issue or not
4 December 2024 at 20:29 #61348I will try tomorrow if time allows!
5 December 2024 at 11:20 #61352Have tried the bc2 with the 10 – 32 and it works with the programming etc so , later today I will retry with the 10 – 40 I may well make up a new masterlink connection with a junction box etc to prove the tv maybe the problem.
I have also tried an Amazon conversion cable, ie scart to hdmi, cost about 14€ and yes it works fine If I get success with the rest, I may well convert the lead from scart to hdmi(not as bulky)!
6 December 2024 at 13:37 #61378So have now tried the BC2 and the 10-40 with different masterlink cables and reprog’d them both going thro the a opt 1 then 0 and then v opt 1 and then 2 still no bc2 response. Is the scart lead in use when radio is called? — I ask as I have replaced the scart with a scart to hdi converter, which did apparently work when I tested the bc2 with the 10-32!
What next?
6 December 2024 at 15:29 #61383Sounds very much like it’s the BV10-40 that has an issue.
To verify the option settings on the BV10-40 you could try the following (found in an old thread):
MENU 0 0 GO brings up the service Menu.
Monitor / Monitor Info / lists the Option Setting
Regarding the scart connection this should not have effect on audio sources. A scart connection is setup to a specific source ( in this case DVD) and will therefor only send control signals for that
6 December 2024 at 19:00 #61390Below the Monitor settings
The tv is a Mk 1
Type 9570 Item 1847431 ser 22073022 option setting 2 Build 127 PW 328 03 80e FEP 0380M FEP BOOTLOADER 00.036

TCON 20091123 230839
Any clarification needed please ask!
6 December 2024 at 19:26 #61391Option setting looks right.
It might be a physical defect then.
7 December 2024 at 18:20 #61419Have been playing around with my system , cleaning connectors etc to no avail.
The 10-40 after programming takes several pushes of the TV button on the Beo4 to boot up the tv, is this normal?
If I reset the tv to factory default using the Beo 4 engineering state, I assume i would lose all programming – is that a correct assumption? Any other ideas out there?

That sounds odd that it should take longer after a option programming. Is it faster again at next power up?

Yes you will most probably have to setup TV channels, connection settings and option programming again if you do that. However if you can live with that it might be a good idea to do that to rule out what could be wrong in regards to Masterlink on the TV.
8 December 2024 at 09:17 #61428Ok, thanks for that, probably tomorrow!
9 December 2024 at 11:04 #61448Well, that proved spectacularly unsuccessful, went through the Meno 0,0, go several times and down the list to the bottom option, then factory reset button, the system seemed to respond, but it didn’t, maybe there is another code to action this request!
Anyone?
10 December 2024 at 08:56 #61462Had another idea, because the tv is a heavy lump to manhandle etc I could use the BC2 as a standalone without masterlink and connected to the tv by the scart lead or the scart/hdmi, and use the BL6000’s for sound, as I think the tv has good sound output from its internal speakers.
Comments please before I embark on trying this!

I do not have experience with factory reset, but I would assume that it had an effect on settings in the TV. Hopefully someone else can chime in

If you only need DVD playback this could be an option, but as mentioned before you can not get the other sound sources from the BC2 via scart. However CD’s could be played through the DVD interface
11 December 2024 at 09:08 #61486Set the BC2 up as a standalone using BL6000’s – that works, need to try the BC with s dvd to see what happens!
I realise its not an ideal system, a bit ‘clunky’, but if it all works then I’m happy.
Maybe the reset will sort the masterlink problem, but, it might be the tv socket, , caused when the whole system was originally separated, the stand rotation connection plug was also broken, uninitiated people not knowing how to unplug things!
